well, we have been broadcasting radio waves at the speed of light for about 100 years in all directions. this doesn't even reach out of our galaxy (just one grain of sand). in fact, its unbelievable when you realize just how far we have communicated so far-

There are many theories that in addition to the space and time we can perceive, there are also an infinite number of "parallel" universes that we cannot perceive existing "simultaneously". We know very little, relatively speaking.

i have read about the multiple universes thing, and the theory does answer the question of why our universe has rules and limitations... but there is so little we know about our own universe it seems like we jump the gun if we try to explain multiple universes before we explain our own.

if we just start by looking at our own universe- hell, even just our own GALAXY, its nearly mathematically impossible that we are the only planet with life. and even crazier the idea is that we will never find other life until we figure out how communicate faster then the speed of light at the very least. ideally we need to travel faster then light.. a LOT faster.
