in WAR players are compared against their own position. So Cameron is well above average for a CF, Konerko slightly above average as a 1B. You can not and should not expect a CF to hit like a lumbering oaf of a 1B.

To be fair to Konerko you should probably take out Cameron's 5.9 WAR he earned as a White Sox player. If you do Post-White Sox Career Cameron vs. White Sox Career Konerko you get 40.6 vs. 30.1 or a WAR/650 PA of 4.3 vs. 2.7. The trade can be considered a winner for both Seattle and Chicago, but Cincinnati lost out since they got Griffey Jr and his 13.1 WAR.

Yes. Everyone said RBIs until somebody at ESPN thought they had split the atom by realizing that it was redundant and made it the new cool thing to say.
