First, he drops a pop-up, then he gets doubled off on the bases. Good start, Champ.

I know. I still like him. He hustled to get into second for his double today.

I've noticed that even on his "no doubt" homers Fields puts his head down right away and goes hard to first. I don't see any major leaguers do that. I mean, on some of them, he has to know they are way out but he still busts his ass out of the box.

He'll be 30 HR 85 RBI and .260 next year.

Eventually he'll be a 40 homer 120 RBI guy.

I like him as well. But ,I would not go that far yet. 30 HR and 85 next year might be a stretch, even if he is the 3rd best player in the lineup. I am still wondering if he will be anything better than Crede was offensively.

Why is 30 HR and 85 RBI a stretch? It's not.

A full season is about 600 at bats for a regular. Maybe 560 if you're lower in the order. Fields has 200 at bats. 1/3rd of a season. He has 9 homers and 31 RBI's.

Project that out for 600 at bats it comes to 27 homers and 93 RBI's.

Plus he'll be ready from the get go next year because he went through the growing pains this year.

Rowand wasn't tauted as a home run guy like Fields. But as you make fun of Rowand he's gonna hit like 28 and drive in 90 this year.

He clearly has very good power, and although his average will probably hang in the .250-.265 range, he's a 30 HR guy over a full season.
