Meat: Jay, do you know anyone who plays in the KHL?
Larry: I have a friend who plays in the KHL?
Meat: Who? (he asks as if he is shocked)
Larry: Brett Sopel (He says sheepishly)

Hey, I met Brett Sopel last year, can I say I have a friend in the KHL? I could, but I wouldnt!

Hey Larry! how about just saying Brett Sopel plays in the KHL. We all know who Brett Sopel is and not one of us or anyone thinks of Brett Sopel as 'Larrys Friend" He is a former Blackhawk, who everyone that followed the 2010 Hawks knows who he is. Wow , just about as uncool as a guy can be, but then again Meat seem to enjoy his company...hmmmm? and CLICK we go

He didn't have a strong start today. His Cubs/rooftop talk was pretty bad too.

Uhhhhh.....

Spiegs should've taken today off too. Holmes is much better solo. Reduces his dumb thoughts.

sopel provided commentary for NBC 5 news during the blackhawks playoffs.... so Holmes working with him for 3-4 shows probably translates in to being best buds with him.

What's really said is Holmes is the best sports anchor NBC5 has already...

Don't worry. The Black NBC Sports Anchor curse will catch up to him soon.

But he did remind me that he lives in Hyde Park, you know where Obama has a house. And because of that he has to put up with secret service. I had almost forgot. Sorry gang, he's just an unlikeable, overcompensating, little turd.

They did shows together on NBC.

They're probably tight

Don't forget he has a place in Arizona. The NFL coaches meeting was taking place 5 minutes from his place so he thought it would be a good time to go and introduce himself to Trestman.

I know they did shows together and of course he knows him, but to make it sound like "Its his friend" and none of us know him, is why the guy is a total fucking pud. The inability to mention something that simple without saying it so everyone can relate like, "Hey, Brett Sopel plays in the KHL"....not "I have a friend who plays in the KHL"

Is Brett Sopel now known as 'Larrys friend" or 'Ex Hawk" Gonna say Ex Hawk wins, except when Larry references him, then he is Larrys friend/////ughh

Larry is the new "mike north" as far as a lightning rod goes on the CSFMB.
I still don't mind listening to him but he does veer off the tracks in to odd and disturbing "guy talk".

The infamous interview that took place in a restaurant kitchen.

North was good though at one time, he brought himself down

Would Larry even get a sniff of being on the air if he was a producer now like so many think they will get an on air chance

Its a huge embellishment bordering on the unprofessional that is something a rank amateur would on some backwater radio station, not suitable for the third largest in the country. To North's credit, he would at least get his "friend" to come on the show just to lend some credibility.

He said he wasn't trying to bully the guy.
No kidding.
How could he, if he wanted to?
Who the hell could he bully in the first pace?

The worst host in the city, zero self awareness. Not sure how anyone could listen to that creepy little turd.

I read this and think of the line from "Pulp Fiction" where Ving Rhames' character gives the line about where calls "some hard pipi hittin' ninjas to go to work on the Holmes here." I don't doubt the Alderman has run across a few, I'd pay max parking rates to watch.

Recently while hosting with Bernstein , Dan told a rather poignant story about a good deed performed by a person of their aquaintance and no sooner had he finished the story than Larry chimed in with "They came to my birthday party ..." Everything has to be about him and its a bonus if he can make himself look like he is an important figure on the local media scene. Self centered and a pompous ass besides.Unlistenable.

Well, I think he's a poser, or a moron, or a nerd, a geek, possibly even a fuckstick or sorts, but I just can't put him in the loser category. The radio gig, the tv gig, the women, his Bears homies, that one picture with the red circle..........

Thats a loser! I dont care what you do for a living! The Women? Which ones? The ones he works with? or the Fugly ones he takes to events, that he picks up when they call in?

And he wishes he was a nerd!
