Hey guys, as an Aussie, baseball isn't really something I have grown up with, so I'm trying to learn on the go. I like the White Sox and I'm hoping you guys can help me understand the roster a bit better. I know Peavy and Floyd are out injured, so if we had a completely healthy roster, who (and how many) would be in the starting rotation? Also, with the rest of the lineup, who is the first choice for each position if we had a fully healthy lineup?

In a perfect world with no injuries and without Keppinger striking out at unprecedented rates it would have looked like this:

Sale
Peavy
Danks
Floyd
Quintana

DeAza CF
Keppinger 3B
Rios RF
Konerko 1B/DH
Dunn DH/1B
Viciedo LF
Ramirez SS
Beckham 2B
Flowers C

Obviously, this season has been far from perfect. And things have changed drastically with Gillaspie probably the choice at third over Keppinger and Phegley now catching as well as shuffling the batting order.

I've never been a huge baseball fan,but I've always kind of liked the White Sox for some reason. I think originally it was because Michael Jordan was with the organization (I'm a massive Bulls fan), and I kind of just liked the team ever since. I follow a handful of other teams, who coincidentally happen to be rivals (Yankees, Red Sox, Dodger, Giants) but I decided to pick one team to really support, and I chose the White Sox. I know the team sucks this year, but I think it's because I've always been a massive Chicago sports fan. I love the Bulls and Blackhawks mainly, but also the White Sox. The only sport I'm not a Chicago fan in is the NFL where I support the 49ers.

Must be all the great conversations that Hawk and Stoney have,

Heard a few more stories over the weekend about the dislike these 2 guys have for each other.

1, Stone spends as much time as he can on the field before the game and is the Clubhouse.
2. Hawks arrives last second, sometimes late, unless one of his guys are in town.

Essentially, they dont talk until they have to and then as you can see, it is minimal.

Producer needs to meet with them individually to go over the schedule for the day.

I can definitely believe this, holy shit.

It's an incredibly awkward and forced broadcast.

This is exactly how I am. Most of my friends are all like "No man, the Melbourne Storm rule!" or "Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Beeyotches!" whereas I'm always like "Screw you, Ivan and Jeff! North Queensland Cowboys are still the best! They're just in a rebuild phase!"

I would have figured you to be an A's fan with Balfour on the team now and Blackly and Rich Thompson in the recent past.

Are you an Aussie as well? Or just like the NRL?

Are White Sox hats popular in Australia?

I always get excited when I see someone or a group of people here in New York walking around in White Sox hats, but then I quickly realize they are likely just in a gang and probably do not care about the win/loss record of the current team.

Don't pre judge. Try starting up a conversation.

Baseball overall in Australia isn't really that popular, but you do still see a decent number of people wearing MLB team caps. A lot of them are Yankees caps, because the NY logo has become more of a fashion icon than actually relating to the team, but you see a few people wearing caps from all different teams. I gathered that White Sox must have either been a really good team or have become popular for some other reason back in the day, because as a hip-hop fan, I remember lots of pics of rappers from the 90's and such wearing White Sox caps, even when they were from LA (I'm looking in your direction, NWA).

They are all Australian born players. Thompson is back in Australia now I think, Balfour is still with the A's and Blackly might be with the Astros now.

Fair enough. Of the 4 major American sports, baseball is by far my least favorite. I don't really know much about the game, other than positions, basic rules, etc. and a few of the players.

That's more than a lot of the people on this board know.

But, not if they are wearing hoodies.

If you need any hockey advice, I suggest asking Steve in Elmhurst.
