Speaking of Rocky IV you can add that to the list of movies where the black guy dies first.

I give Stallone credit for making that last Rocky. I enjoyed it and I think it was a story that needed to be told. Stallone may talk "funny" but he has written some excellent dialogue over the years. His best performance though might have been in "Copland". An excellent movie.

There was no reason to kill off Apollo. You could've just had Lungren paralyze him ala Dennis Alexio in Kickboxer, which essentially had the exact same plot. Killing Apollo was some bullshit.

Rocky IV is my least favorite of the series, actually. Not just because of the Apollo thing, but because of the whole Cold War angle. Funny thing is, I loved this movie as a kid. I think it has aged the most poorly out of all the Rocky movies.

Bail was set at $250,000 today for a 27-year-old woman accused of starting a fire this week that left five adults and a child injured.

Whitney Holmes, of the 2000 block of East 72nd Street, was charged with aggravated arson and domestic battery.

Police said she set her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend's couch on fire inside an apartment at the corner of 71st Street and Jeffery Boulevard about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Holmes was visiting a man she recently had broken up with when the two began to argue at his apartment, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said.

The fight turned physical and the man suffered a bite mark on his back, Pillsbury said.

After the man left his apartment, he saw Holmes leave the apartment building with a window fan in her hand that previously was in his apartment, according to Pillsbury.

An arson investigation revealed that a window in the room where the fire began was open, providing oxygen to the flames, Pillsbury alleged.

Cook County Circuit Court Associate Judge Israel Desierto ordered Holmes, who police records said was a clothing store saleswoman, to be held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

In addition to the six initially reported injured, as many as six additional victims were treated.

The injuries were not serious, police and the Chicago Fire Department said at the time.

Tribune reporter Naomi Nix contributed.

I'm right there with you sir. Nothing wrong with her at all. I'm sure she's pretty fine when she goes out. She looks like this girl at my job I used to go to lunch with (she was my friend "babycakes" on MySpace if you remember way back).

And it's also the added craziness of burning your crib down a la Left Eye that is the icing on the cake for me....this happened not too far from my South Shore high rise apt that you first came to.

I don't remember babycakes as much as I remembered Kitten Dibet. I wanted you to hook me up......ahh, the old myspace days... :D

Personally, if I had a choice, I'd rather die than be paralyzed. IDK what Apollo would think on that matter.

All they wanted to do was "up the ante" & "make Rocky's rivalry w/ Krazy Ivan more personal, more dramatic. It's like halfway through pre-production they realized that the Cold War angle wasn't going to be enough.

 Yeah, I didn't even know Kitten. She just hit me up and we started talking on there. Then I got with the white chick and left her alone. :(

I loved Rocky 4 as a kid. But even as a teeny tiny Darko I hated his fruity ass "If I can change" speech. And it is RIDICULOUS that the Russians would start cheering for Rocky. That's just stupid.

Yeah, it's really cheesy. Doesn't hold up well at all.

Oh yeah and the screaming on the mountaintop was way over the top too.
And there was some gay shit going on between Rocky and Apollo which pisses me off cause he was such a badass you know, especially in Predator when he kept on shooting after his arm got blown off??? All that is man.

I, II, and Balboa are all good films. III, IV, and V reek of franchise and was one of the reasons I could never really support Stallone as an actor. He wanted to be a product.

This should be its own thread.
