Jackson and Edwards come pretty close to being the best cubs pitching prospects from day 1 and the only other 2 right now that are better are Rosscup who came along with Garza and Hendricks who came from Texas last year. I'm still not sold on Olt but unless the Diamondbacks get in with 1 of their 2 elite pitching prospects I like this offer.

What make Jackson & Edwards so damn good? Are they Top 100 MLB guys or just top 10 Ranger guys??

Jackson can throw some gas.

I don't have a list but Jackson is probably in the top 100 and Edwards the top 150. Edwards will be in the top 50 if he can keep dominating.

I agree, but looks like no way that'll happen.

They better score big on this trade or I think they'll regret letting Garza go in a couple years.

I have been on the side that thought they should keep Garza. But the more I think about it, the more I think they should get the best deal they can for him now and if they like him then try to sign him in the offseason.

Garza is such a threat to blow up. Something was wrong with his shoulder and they didn't fix it....they just strengthened everything around it. If he gets overworked....gets lazy with his shoulder maintenance workouts....i don't like it.

A Ball pitchers scare me and Olt has bust written all over him.

Lets remember how bad the I-Cubs pitching staff is. They struck out Olt 3 times tonight.

No way Garza signs with Cubs in offseason if they aren't making a good offer now.

Could be but he could also become a perennial 200 inning guy for the next 6 years too. To me, 2 A ball pitchers (neither in Top 100) and a AAA bust is not a good return.

82 K's in 218 AB's and a .211 BA.

Bad. Very very bad.

He isn't re-signing so you have to get something back while you can. I would much rather get one of the D-backs pitching prospects....but they will not part with them. These guys are also under team control and cheap for a long time. Garza would need something like 5 years 65-70. I would rather load up on prospects and save the cash for Price.

Price is gonna want 25M per for 6+ years and not sure he's worth that or would even consider the Cubs. Point taken on Garza signability but has he been offered and refused a 4/60M deal or are they offering 3/36 and he's saying fuck that (as well he should)??

To be fair to Olt, he is more blocked than a bust at this point.

The next Cubs pitching coach was his college pitching coach. (minor league pitching coordinator until bosio is gone) Its gonna happen!!! I don't want to pay 25 per though.

Not a bust? He's hitting .211 with 82K in 218 AB's in AAA.

Yea I know that but Price doesn't need any tutoring. He will command big time cash and 25M seems to be the going rate for Cy Young guys nowadays...

He was blind in one eye. Since getting off the DL he has been batting at his normal level. That said, his normal level is still similar to Brett Jackson.

He has 10K's in his last 27 AB's and per UMN he K'd 3 times tonight against the Cubs AAA "pitchers".

The Texas Rangers, who have been viewed as a frontrunner in the Garza sweepstakes, don’t like the asking price and are in the advanced stages of a Plan B, a major-league source said Thursday night. Still, the Cubs are going to find a highly motivated buyer and use the best pitcher on the trade market to restock their system.

This is a wonderful time for realism. Shit rolls down hill, and MLB executives are sitting on top. Most of what we get excited about, regardless of the sport, is placed.

Garza is on a flight to Denver, and has been told his start is pushed back to Mon instead of Saturday.

Reports out there that the Rangers are close yet are now refusing to include Luke Jackson. Fuck them if they won't part with Perez or Jackson.

I knew the media stuff yesterday was placed. I agree with you on the prospects. I'm not interested in locking him up, but you have to get at least one stud in the deal that isn't named Olt.

@TBrownYahoo: Rangers, Cubs haven't gotten to point of exchanging medicals in Garza trade talks.

Lot of negotiating tactics going on. Probably shouldn't have done it at all, but now nearly impossible to trust anything.

If I'm Jedtheo, I tell them to go fuck themselves and give Garza to the A's for nothing if it comes down to it.

Thankfully you're not.

Good on them holding strong to their demands. Still time to go before trade deadline and he's likely the best player to be moved.

Good. If they really want Garza then a mop haired A ball flame thrower won't stand in the way.

Truth. Not JedStein's fault the Rangers overpayed for dipshit Dempster last year.
