How is it going after his business to simply link his public comments to his public name and to his public business? He chooses to make all of these easily accessible.

Again, the objective was to lose him potential clients. I don't think that's right.

No.
Wrong.
The intent is to ensure that anyone that's going to hire this clown knows who it is that they are inviting into their home.

How would you feel if there was someone like him that you hired to do work in your house and you did not have all the data available to you to know what and who he is?

I wouldn't want this type of "human" anywhere near my home, personal property, interacting with my family... dear god would you want this man in the same room as your SON? What if this isn't an act? What if he is a dangerous man because of his absolute disregard of blacks as people? What else is he capable of? What has he NOT said?

If someone is going into your home, you should know who he is. I had to have an EXTENSIVE background check to get my job. My customers have my real name and can look me up anytime they want before letting me in to where their children live.

When a white poster (chas) told me that he was going to violently rape my family several years ago and I responded by telling him I would kick his ass if he ever showed up to an event, I got a PM from someone that I like and respect telling me I was wrong. How should I respond to someone threatening my family that way? Let me know what day works for you? I even got a message from chas the other day telling me he wasn't sorry and that I should be an adult and get over his comments.

See, with the chas thing idk why it's being mentioned that he's white, aside from there being some sort of an implication that the incoming PM was someone sticking up for chas because he was white. I mean, while I obviously do not understand what it's like to grow up as an african american in this society and therefore I'll never completely know what it feels like to deal with those racial slurs as a lamentably common part of life, at the same time i am overweight, and i have been ridiculed for that since approximately the 4th grade.... granted being black isn't a choice and being fat is (just like alcoholism/addiction isn't a "disease" GTFO), still, i've at least got some experience being in a position where merely existing was reason enough to catch ridicule from people, so i think i can understand a little bit of what's going on.

One of the disconnects that has to be made is that you can't represent every black person every time some generic trollbaiting vitriol is tossed out there trying to elicit a reaction like this. It's kind of like Oprah starting off her show with and coming out to "I'm Every Woman" ---- no you're not, you're a fucking billionaire who lives a completely fabricated artificial plastic life that's insulated from reality at every corner, bend, and juncture. and in this case, man, i'm reminded of Chris Rock's famous "black people vs [n-word]az" routine. In that, Chris said that an example of a black person is a guy who busts his ass with 2.5-3 jobs foregoing a lot to make sure he has enough $$$ to send his kids to college. A [n-word]a is the guy who robs that family when they can finally afford to go on vacation.

See, Chris speaks of the cultural disconnect between people who happen to be black and the "thug archetype" that has been purveyed and glorified throughout mass media, especially in the medium of music. And like I said with Steve before, when he's making slights at black people he's thinking of that minority % of black people who "hustle" for a living and embody every negative stereotype that the media has worked so hard to drill into our heads. Again, working as a police officer he had to deal with the lowest of the low in terms of the bonafide "losers"in life whose criminal element was sizeable enough to essentially define them as a person, and when your job features you dealing with that element 90-95% of the time as opposed to normally functioning productive members of society who happen to be black (i.e. when you look at them as a person, their blackness isn't the first thing that you think about), well then you're going to be slanted in your views of black people, and since you've had the validation of the inherent power that comes with the badge, you're going to feel righteous in disseminating your opinions since you were never checked for having them when you developed them.

I can't speak to why he feels the need to aggressively racebait on the board, or what psychological ends he gets out of the whole deal.... i mean that in and of itself is the issue that necessitated this thread, IMHO, but like.... if you make the issue truly black and white (no pun intended) that everything comes down to black and white, even by ostentatiously trying to combat the issue of race that steve raised, you're only helping him along my enforcing the dichotomy/divide/etc.... i mean, if everything is going to be analyzed from a perspective of "a white guy said this" / "a black guy said that" then the divide is only going to get wider and deeper and thusly bigger..... cuz ideally we should get to the crux of what people are saying without taking their race into consideration. you were right to check chas at the door not because he was a white guy talking shit to a black guy when he's legendarily on reord asnot being a fan of the black guys, but because the dumbass threatened to rape your family. i like to think that whoever PM'd you didn't do it because of the white good-ol-boy-network looking out for their own, but knowing that chas is just a harmless dumbass living out his badass fantasies behind the guise of a keyboard tough guy.... i don't think it was racially motivated.

and that's what i was trying to get at when i told you that you need to be the bigger man her.... tl;dr, i know.... but i see you posting your stuff on here and i know and respect the fact that you're a righteous dude who isn't here to take shit from anyone, moreover you're going to give hell to people who cross you (or in my case, people who give you mike trout and stephen strasburg. man that j-upton/kemp thing = i got taken out to the woodshed. yikes) but yeah, foreal nas.... BE THE BETTER MAN..... let this go not because it's a bunch of white guys begging a black guy to have mercy on another white guy, cuz this aint a racial issue.... it's a being-better-than-steve issue.... and you know you are, but by even acknowledging him, let alone going to these lengths to take him down, you're only giving him exactly what he wanted..... and while you're morally right for doing this, still, it's like playing a game of global thermonuclear war with WOPR in wargames: the only way to win is not to play the game.

so yeah, i reckon at this jucture someone can fetch HHH's shovel and bury me for trying to stick up for the point i made earlier, but like, y'all know i'm right. steve did all of this HOPING that shit would go down, and in a way this thread is more than he bargained for. i'm pretty sure that he'd totally accept a ban as the confirmation that this place is RACIST AGAINST WHITES and etc etc...... as many others have touched on, ignoring him and not playing his game is the only way to win. SHOMER SHABBOS * POUNDS TABLE *

you can do it, nas. maybe pop on the instrumental for 2pac's "i don't give a fuck" and get a little 2-step boogie in your stride and remember that there's a reason steve is trying to cut y'all black people down to his size... it's like paul mooney said on chappelle's show once "everyone wanna be a [n-word]a but ain't nobody wanna be a [n-word]a" ---- that's why the american black man is quite possibly the most imitated man in the world.

I'm sure everyone has a reason why they do a lot of things and ES is no exception to that. You seem to know exactly why he does what he does and make it sound as if your theory makes it okay.

I don't speak for all black people but as a black person I can speak to how I feel and give a general idea how a lot of black people feel. We have a lot of articulate and educated members of the community here that can correct me if I've mispoken. So far none have. Obviously we don't agree on everything.

As far as the majority of your post goes I've already acknowledged why I had a hard time ignoring his post this time.

you wouldn't; so you're going to make that call that no one should? i'm pretty sure not everyone who has ever done you a service is a fine upstanding citizen with no racist leanings or isn't in some other way dangerous. if ES can paint your house competently, he should be allowed to do that.

he's already said that he purposely looks over black families. whether he's telling the truth or not, he's doing them a favor. but he shouldn't be disallowed to continue his business if he's good at it. he's not trying to monopolize the trade or anything.

Ban worthy?

Yes.

Because he detracts miserably from the board. Always has, always will.

Why don't I respond?

Because I find playing in the gutter completely distasteful.

Fairly simple in both instances if you ask me.

Fuck it. I'm bored. I'll go.

Well Mr. Chas, when you make blanket statements like "most of you thought it was funny" in reference to the pedophilia jokes aimed at Reardon, it's necessary to call you out on your revisionist history. Not only did "most of you" not think it was funny, but there were several who spoke out against it with the belief that the perpetrators were above that kind of insulting and mudslinging. And while I'm in the mood:

chaspoppcap wrote:
Steve is wrong on what he said period. But it seems the heard here only applies rules to certain people.

Lets look at what Steve said by taking the racial shit out of it.

Not too long ago a "Kid"(he was not a kid 17 is a young adult). When approached by an adult questioning him about what he was up to the "kid" was expected to respond to the adult with common courtesy and answer instead of becoming belligerent and attacking the adult.

You're a dumbfuck. [this is me skipping civil debate and going straight to the namecalling of someone I don't respect.]

The part of your statement that I find the most appalling is where you say "by taking the racial shit out of it". You can't take the racial shit out of it because HE FUCKING SAID IT, you fucking dimwit. No one made it up. No one assumed he was hinting at it. He just came right out and said it. Therefore, the comments have to be addressed as they are. And how could you say that Steve was wrong for what he said, and then immediately try to enable him by "taking the racial shit out" of what he said?

And stop doing the "everybody's picking on me" bit at every turn. For a guy who was so quick to call me emo, I certainly have thicker skin than you - nevermind the fact that you've pretty much invited a good 97% of all the bullshit you receive on yourself.

Oh, and you're still two-faced. Good night.

Far be it for me to contest the insights of a cultural heavyweight like Will Smith, but I would simply point out that there are several centuries worth of historical scholarship, philosophical writing and social analyses that would contest the views summarized above.

One of my favorite books ever written--at least in part--about the "autonomization" of children from parental influence amidst the rise of a pervasive consumerist popular culture is David Riesman's The Lonely Crowd. It is widely regarded as one of the great books of the 20th century and is a fabulous dissection of American family life following World War II.

I think the lack of proper parenting allows negative stereotypes of ALL types to form and proliferate.

You have to instruct your kids about the dangers of the world, including the unique dangers that only he or she may face, and how to deal with them.

That is parenting: preparation, protection, and training of the young for their eventual jaunt into the unknown, unprotected abyss of adulthood.

It really pains me when ANY parent sits by while their child does things the wrong way, and I really think that you have to get your kid as far away from the type of people who do things the wrong way (either deliberately, or because they do not care to put in the work to avoid making the same mistake(s) twice) as swiftly as possible if you want to avoid assimilation of bad habits.

That becomes troublesome - the mere logistics of it - i.e. how do you just uproot and move along? - but a dedicated parent will always take pains to make the "impossible" happen.

It is no accident that Nas' and Cairo's kids will likely grow up to be college-educated bad asses. Good, attentive parenting.

Will Smith, known more for his skills as a talented thespian and musician/urban poet than for creating and dispensing sage philosophical knowledge, did offer one poignant observation. So good parenting develops good kids? Ground Breaking Theory!

I do not know of the author, and I cannot tell if he is just riffing off the cuff or what, or if he was somehow put up to this, and I do not believe that it is my place to say whether he is correct or not, because I would have no way of possessing the intimate knowledge and unique experience necessary for such judgment, but it seems pretty unadulterated and direct.

I am curious as to what others who ARE qualified to judge the piece think, though.

There is some truth to a lot of what he says. I've said as much (using different words) many times here.

Steve doesn't bother me so much. He is clowning around in a highly sociopathic manner. Humor is a cleaver rather than a scalpel in the hands of the less talented.

Absolutely correct. It amuses me how people wrote about how the radio shows I call into might really be interested in seeing posts I have made here and how it might damage my relationship with those shows. Meanwhile several hours later, I call into Silvy and Waddle to pass on a question for Keith Law and they request that I call back to ask the question myself. So that didn't really work out for those people. Why don't those shows take issue with things I have posted here? Because I never discuss those things on the radio. But on a message board I don't have the same measure of restraint, because IT's A MESSAGE BOARD!

Just curious.....how's that ban thing going?? I said not to get too giggly about it.

There is just one sad man making racist posts on the internet inbetween bragging about getting on AM radio.

Just step back, forget everything else about the situation, and consider that for a moment

And he has got a 10 page, and growing, thread....he has people gnashing their teeth, pounding the table, stomping their feet and declaring various quests to get him banned, to conspire to try and hurt his business and to take to Twitter to try and get him banned from his calling his radio shows.

All have failed and now he sits back, doubles down and taunts everyone.

He's in Heaven, RPB......Heaven.

Yeah - nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way

Again

Mid 50's, trolling, bragging about getting on radio.

You cant dress that up. That is what it is, no matter how anyone reacts.

At the end of the day, this man's happiness is largely determined by ESPN 1000 radio hosts
