Not too hard to be in contention in a golf tournament and still finish outside the top 10.

Ho hum.

My nit picky criticism of Woods. Dude , Westwood just played a great round which you saw every shot of. Could you maybe give a little more than a perfunctory handshake after the round? Is there a history with these 2 ?

I'd say the history is that Tiger's been an ass to all for quite some time. He's not real well liked from what I've read. Many of the players weren't really upset over his fall from grace.

The point is that Cabrera is disproportionately competitive in majors versus every other tourney in his career.

Guys would kill to finish in the top 10 at a major 10 times and win 2 of them.

if you've been a professional golfer for over 20 years, and you'd kill for that, maybe you chose the wrong profession.

You're right.

You'd kill to win 1 major.

Picking an odd stance here Zack. In the last 20 years the have only been 10 players to win multiple majors. That puts Cabrera in pretty elite company.

i'm not really as into following golf as most guys on here. i mostly look at the big winners. but i'm not saying that in 20 years a lot of people have made top 10 finishes; i'm saying in 20 years of playing professional golf, he's made 10 top 10 finishes in majors. i don't really consider that "always in contention".

that's like players in tennis who are prolific quarterfinalists. like james blake or mardy fish or david ferrer. to me "in contention" in golf means you're in the top 5 on sunday. in the past few years cabrera's been in the mix but i wouldn't say in his career he's a perennial contender. not even in majors.

If Lee Westwood wins, I'm gonna be infinitely more unbearable than usual.

We enjoyed mcIlroy's meltdown, though, didn't we... dashingly charming man that he is.

Curtis Strange and Andy North made the same point that WZ is arguing against.

Poulter hit that drive 400 yards with 70-80 yards of run off. That's unbelieveable.

That was a hell of a bogey. Would have loved to see him put his tee shot in the fairway.

i'm streaming through espn go. so i have to listen to tirico and crew. it sure beats listening to boomer though.

FS, i don't really care what "experts" are disagreeing with me or if you do or whatever. i don't buy the "always in the contention" argument about cabrera, i think that maybe in the last few years he's had a few runs. but i don't think in his entire career he's that consistent. so just let it go.

Westwood hasn't hit a fairway yet today.

In trouble again at 9.

Way to go KS.

That was a hell of a round by Poulter. It's too bad he can't put himself in better contention Thursday- Saturday.
