Seems Dubai either isn't buying the rape claim, or they are but chose to nonsensically jail her on violating local customs to which she does not subscribe. If the rape claim is legitimate, then it goes without saying that this is an egregious instance of gross injustice and police/legal incompetence. Even if she fudged the details of the sex or rape event, she doesn't deserve to be jailed. There is a vibrant and very open expat culture in Dubai in which you're able to participate in many of the social customs found in the Euro-American world, so I'm not sure why she's being picked on here when drunken sex between casual partners (if it was indeed consensual sex and not rape) happens all the time.

Yes, and in the UAE's case it would seem wise to invest at least a portion of all the funds that go toward infrastructure and urban development into revamping an incoherent legal system that does not reflect the country's fledgling diversity.
