As written here 7/18, C.J. Edwards has taken a big jump forward in '13. He's the centerpiece of this deal for Cubs. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... ward000car

I'm not looking for much out of Olt.

He put the olt in dolt?

Olt is the classic buy low scenario. He was their #1 prospect, and totally untouchable a year ago. Had his eye issues which seem to be fixed. Hitting well since getting back. Worth it for the Cubs to deal for, IMO.

Maybe. Garza is the best trade piece they have had/will have through this whole "plan". I was really hoping for a no-doubt good player. We'll see.

If there was one to be had, he'd be with the Cubs. We may have all overvalued what Garza was going to get in return.

Sources: A's late involvement in Garza sweepstakes pushed Rangers to up ante. General sense is Cubs got great return for 2 months of Garza.

I'd wait for Keyser to post someone else's thoughts before I make a determination of good or bad trade.

Fear Not! I'll cut and paste as soon as I get home.

Chicago Cubs did really well in their return for Garza based on the fact he's a "rental"...TX NEEDED Garza to stay with Oak..works for both

Damn, that's a good throw in. He hasn't been good this year, but he is young and was pretty dominant in the minors.

You know, looking at Grimm's starts this year, if not for 3 really bad outings, he'd have 4 really bad outings.

Kinda surprised that Grimm is in the deal for Garza. Cubs collect prospects and could improve team now.

For 2 months. Hot damn. Great trade for Cubs. Other teams interests very well upped the price. Very happy.

Overall, the trade seems about right. I think the Cubs sacrificed a little quality for quantity but I suppose that is all that was there to be had. Seems like 3 legit prospects for the bigs.

I approve this trade, Theo, proceed.

Ramirez is in play.

Confirmed deal done for Garza in 4 for 1 with Texas. Cubs get Olt, Edwards, Grimm and ptbnl from pool that includes Ramirez (Cubs choice)

Just looked at the Garza trade again. My pants are wet. I wish Theo was my son.

I'm gimmicking up my bow tie to do a Michael Hutchence type deal to a picture of Theo. Great trade.

Wow. Maybe if we wait another 15 minutes, the Cubs will be getting 7 guys.

If they got Ramirez also, then I officially think this was the biggest Ranger beating since the weekend box office in early July.

Hearing Matt Garza could be traded by the Cubs prior to the deadline. Marlins a possibility. I've had 19 beers today.
