The last time we saw Keith Olbermann on our TVs, he was at odds with Current TV management, just months after signing off for a second time at MSNBC. The clock ran out on his nightly news/talk show "Countdown", which Olbermann hosted from 2003-2011 on MSNBC before briefly relocating to Current TV in the summer of '11 and ending in March of 2012. The two sides had filed suits against each other following Olbermann's firing by Current, but have since settled out of court.

After constantly naming the likes of FOX News Channel hosts Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, their boss Chairman Roger Ailes & radio host Rush Limbaugh constantly as "nominees" for Keith's "Worst Person in the World" on "Countdown", K.O. has abandoned hard news completely, and is going back to sports...but not at another of his former employers.

Despite rumors of Olbermann possibly going back to ESPN, a place he worked at from 1992-1997 and got in hot water for referring to Bristol, CT as "the most God forsaken place in North America" during an appearance on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" with then host Craig Kilborn, it turns out that Olbermann's new TV home isn't anywhere near Bristol by any means.

It was revealed over the weekend that Olbermann has been hired by Turner Sports. K.O. has been hired to replace Matt Winer as new studio host of TBS' exclusive national coverage of the MLB Playoffs, including the Wildcard Games, the Division Series & the National League Championship Series starting this October. Olbermann is no stranger to hosting MLB coverage. He did that from 1998-2001 at FOX Sports before being replaced by Jeanne Zelasko in the network's Los Angeles studios.

Olbermann's hiring is part of a shakeup in Turner Sports' MLB coverage. Although onetime former Cub Dennis Eckersley will join K.O. in Turner's Atlanta studios, it's believed onetime former White Sox pitcher David Wells won't be back on TBS' studio crew for the MLB Playoffs.

Another studio analyst, Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., has shifted to the ballpark. Cal Jr. will join Ernie Johnson, Jr. & Ron Darling as Turner's lead MLB playoff team this October. Another TBS/MLB Network analyst, future HOFer John Smoltz, has moved slightly down the MLB/Turner Sports' depth chart. Smoltz & Brian Anderson (the Brewers/FOX Sports Wisconsin voice, not the former White Sox OF) will make up the network's new #2 crew. They'll work the MLB Wildcard games and work one of the MLB Division Series on TBS. The rest of the crews will be revealed later.

this is good news. I would watch a non-political Olbermann show.

Keith Olbermann isn't just headed for TBS this October to host Turner Sports' MLB Playoff pre & postgame from Atlanta. He's headed to New York next month to host a brand new show on ESPN2.

Olbermann, who worked from 1992 to 1997 at ESPN, signed a 2 year deal with the "Worldwide Leader" to host a sports & entertainment show late last week that will not talk 1 minute of politics, a departure from what K.O. did at MSNBC & most recently Current TV as host of "Countdown".

The show simply called "Olbermann" will originate from New York's Times Square Studios weeknights at 10P (CT) on ESPN2 starting August 26th. Nate Silver, formerly of Yahoo! Sports, will be Olbermann's "second banana" on Keith's new show.

I wish I had a straight answer. Keith Olbermann's problem is that he can't stay in one place for a long period of time.

A gay answer will suffice.

No, that's not his problem, that's the result of his problem, which is that he is abusive to his staff, fights with his bosses, and throws hissy fits over the tiniest things.

The clashes with his bosses are well documented, Darkside. That may explain why his most recent stay at Current TV didn't last long.

Olbermann went comically batshit at Current. One time, a studio light blew out, so from then on he did all his shows in the dark.

I really couldn't care less about what Pedro Martinez has to say about the MLB playoffs.
