Craigslist, my friend. Craigslist.

 What the hell am I laughing at? All my "friends" are people my wife tells me we should hang out with.

That's a good question. I usually (hardly ever have it delivered) tip an extra 5.
I "beat the system" the other night. I ordered pizza from a drive-thru place. It was ready in 15 minutes and I didn't have to leave my car! (Man,am I lazy)

My understanding is that the delivery fee doesn't go to the driver.

And many places require servers to contribute a portion of either their tips or sales to a pool to pay busboys and dishwashers (or the owner  ). So you server may have been looking at receiving only half of your 9% tip.

Is paying for every meal one of your ways to ensure marriage #3 lasts more than a year, Steve?

Mine always did. Drove pizza for a couple places. The delivery fee went to me plus tips but I only got a buck a trip

Driving pizzas... my experience was that I'd get the delivery fee. Then the tip. But it was like a buck a trip... so that today is like barely payin for gas, and you don't make shit, I think I got only a couple bucks an hour. This was back in the mid 90's... so like I guess it's harder now cause you're drivin your own vehicle, your own gas, and it's pricey. If a joint is 10 miles from the john you're like out almost a gallon and that's like $4 or better and it's a great portion of your income.

Tip your drivers man.

Some places do, some don't

Some pay hourly minimum + delivery charge (half of it);+ tips

Greg, the separate checks is the root f the problem here

Why?

Not always but you tip regardess

Either they're paid hourly, by pizza, or both. That's one half. The other half is tips.

No one could make any money without the tips

Throw the guy five bucks

You're just gonna spend that 1.50 on some bullshit anyway

That's how the restaurant itemized the tab, and no one really seemed to mind.

I don't know how any self-respecting guy lets a girlfriend pay for his meal. And then when it comes to the table's attention that the waitress got only a 9% tip, you still leave the place having contributed nothing?? Yet you have the nerve to say that someone else in the group has the reputation of being a cheapskate? That's rich....Gloopan Kuratz is way off IMO concerning Danny Mac, but he's on the money here.

No Redskin, it was not trolling. I think it's pretty sad that you would allow a young lady to pay for your meal and then STILL refrain from chipping in any money, when it comes to the group's attention that the amount left for the waitress' tip was just 9%. At that point, I would think you might try stretching those alligator arms down into your pockets and come up with some trump. I don't get how you feel okay about contributing nothing in such a scenario as others dig deeper to supplement the insufficient tip originally left. Lame.

You like fantasy Football? Come to ESPN's Fantasy Football Convention August 24th at the Horseshoe Casino and I'll buy you a beer. I have been rude towards you at times in the past and would buy you a beer as a gesture of apology.

If it's a barrel of juice I'm in. I've never forgotten the moment we were a married couple, even if it only existed in spmack's head.

And another thing...separate checks? Unless you are 16 & at dinner for homecoming or prom, this is lame. Figure it out yourself.

No. Steve is wrong. Women are human beings, not delicate flowers to be worshipped. You guys should find a time machine and work out your virgin/whore complex.

i delivered for a place in DeKalb @NIU in the very late 90's/early 00's when i was going to school there and i thought it was actually pretty good pay....I got 4$/hr (CASH, although toward the tail end of my employment it became a check which sucked), 75/cents per delivery, then the tip
first of all gas was still around 1.25-1.50, second the majority of the deliveries were in a 5 miles radius or so , so it wasn't like you were really travelling far. the best would be when you got to go to a factory, the Nestle factory there for instance...you might get 8 people that order, so you'd get 8x .75 for the deliveries and 8 tips , and even if they only tipped you change it added up
and ironically enough, i found that the students tipped far better than the actual townspeople, probably because they were spending mom & pop's cash....but i remember a few times i had to deliver to this hospital which actually was a drive it was on the edge of town, you'd go all the way there and this doctor would tip you 1$, like cmon man you gotta be makin 6 figures

This is why when we go out with people I not only ask for separate checks, but separate tables preferably far enough apart we get different waitresses.
