So supposedly he has given the Cubs a list of teams he would accept a trade to so we don't get a repeat of the Giants fiasco last year.

http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/9506901/alfonso-soriano-tells-chicago-cubs-accept-new-york-yankees-deal

I know he was massively overpayed by Hendry, but I will wish him luck wherever he goes. Ended up turning himself into a fairly average left fielder after he knocked it off with the hop and the prima donna demands of leading off when Lou was here. Also put up some respectable numbers on some completely dogshit teams. But I will say this to any team that expects Soriano to participate in a meaningful manner once it turns October.....

 Fair enough james. I just think there have been bigger moondicks that have passed through the North Side. See most recently Stewart, Ian.

Soriano-Granderson-Ichiro would be the best outfield in baseball.

in 2006

He has really made a change in his attitude. It really is something. The guy runs hard to 1st,his OF play has been above average the last 2.5 seasons and he had his best season last year. I like the guy,he seems like a good dude. Let's face it,if he was just making a measley 7-8 mil,the fans wo8ld appreciate him more.

The Cubs don't exactly have loads of guys hitting over 30 homers and driving in over 100 runs, so the great desire some have to be rid of Soriano makes no sense. But if Junior Lake is for real and the Cubs want him to play the rest of the season in the major leagues, it makes sense to make the move. With Dejesus back in CF, the logical spot for Lake is LF and since the N.L. has no DH, it leaves Soriano without a spot. But I have to give Soriano credit. He not only remained a productive offensive player, longer than I had thought he might, but greatly improved as a defensive player as well. I was against the signing when it took place, because I saw Soriano as a one dimensional player and once he had knee problems and couldn't steal bases regularly anymore, his offensive production was reduced as well. But he so improved defensively, that my objections to him as a player were no longer valid. He had a pretty good run on the North side overall and I will remember him as a good player and wish him well back in New York.

Agreed. Always like Soriano. Not his fault for the contract. If he leaves, certainly wish him well and hopefully get a shot at a ring

Has always been a class act and has really put up with alot of fan abuse over the years. Gotta give him credit for how he's dealt with that. To bad he had the leg injuries early on as that clearly limited his impact, but one can't dispute the HR power. He just passed Johnny Bench I believe? Not to shabby.

Hope they get a good deal with decent salary relief at minimum and maybe they get lucky and get a prospect that pans out too.

Good player. Blame Hendry for being a dipshit, I liked and will continue to like Soriano.

Better be for something more impressive than the useless AAA bullpen arms they were rumored to be offering.Get Nik Turley!!!! make it happen Theo.

Supposedly a low level pitching prospect. Hopefully Yankees paying at least 7M of the salary, but looks like Cubs are giving him away.

They can flip em to one of the 12 teams desperate for bullpen help, due to the expanded playoffs.

WTF??

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 1m If the Yankees' deal with the Cubs happens, Chicago would eat the bulk of the money owed to Soriano, about $25m.

So they basically would be paying for the caliber of prospect. Kinda weird to pay your most productive offensive player to play for another team.

Better not be any taxpayer $'s going to that deal. Why not keep Sori-dude around as a buddy for the younger players? He gets em into the cool clubs.

Lower level pitching prospect sounds to me like they're giving him away and eating all the money.

Stupid.

Yankees have gone 26 straight games without a HR by right-handed batter. Soriano has 10 homers in that time.

At his worst, he was never as bad as Adam Dunn.

The hate for him from some quarters of Cubs Fandom is puzzling.
