Baez had 2 HRs and 2Ks in four at-bats last night. It's all or nothing, isn't it?

Its an international money spending party and the Cubs are going all out. 18 year old pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng from Tawaiin is a Cub after agreeing to a 1.95 mil signing bonus.

Baez just dropped #9 on the Sox AA team. What a beast he has been power wise in AA so far. 9 hr 17 rbi in 20 AA games. Average is up to .231.

No matter how much you try and convince the world of this, you're still wrong.

Sale is pitching as good as he was last year.

The difference is the team around him.

Steve is a fucking moron. Sale is much better this year. His W/L isn't there, but his individual stats are better...

Stats last year to this year... ERA, 3.05 to 2.69... WHIP 1.135 to 1.015... HR/9 .09 to .08... BB/9 2.4 to 2.0... K/9 3.76 to 4.91.

Individual stats show Sale has been considerably better this year so far. This proves Steve is dead ass wrong. Sale not the same pitcher he was last year? maybe, but because he's gotten better.

Again, yet again, Steve shows he doesn't know what he's talking about.

To be fair, as bad as Sale's record may be (6-10), his ERA is now a sparkling 2.69, lower than last year's 3.05. His walks to strikeouts ratio is better. His WHIP is just 1.01, also better.

Damn!!! 10 in 20 games. Its going to be time to dump Barney and his missing bat and get one of these guys to 2nd (Castro, Baez, Arismendy) sooner than later. I see the stat columns but I haven't seen the games to get an understanding of what Baez sucks at defensively. Does he throw wildly or is he just straight up booting shit all the time.

Baez also struck out in his other 3 ABs. That's now 32 Ks in 82 ABs.

This is why you send him back to the fall league and make him repeat AA to begin next year. He can be a much better hitter but he is thinking dead red right now. That will also buy them time to get him to another position.

Fielding is overrated. San Francisco booted the ball all over the field last season.

And the run of good IMU baseball thoughts comes to an end.

The degrees to which this is true vary wildly with SS being in the top 3 at which is leans to not being true. I would say it is probably the most important defensive position, excluding pitcher.

Kinda flying under the radar this year is Christian Villenueva. He has virtually identical stats to Alcantara with 7 less errors.

Alcantara has tanked since the all-star break.

In sad news Tim Saunders is having TJ surgery in the very near future thus pretty much screwing any chances of him making it.

Ivan Pineyro was dealing again for Daytona tonight. Very impressive. He has 4 starts in Daytona...3 have been great and 1 has been bad.

Eloy Jimenez officially signed. 2.8 million and 250k for college. I still want to know what the strategy was with the international signings this year. It seems they blew well past the spending limit, hitting the most severe penalty. If that was the original plan, why trade for additional money? I could be getting ahead of myself, but I'll be interested to hear the final recap.

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 4h Mike Olt has had a tough start for the Cubs' Class AAA affiliate:3-for-31, no extra-base hits, 2 walks/11 strikeouts.

To state the obvious, not good.

I guess if Garza didn't get hurt, they would have received a better return in Spring Training.

Olt was coming off a great season though at that point. He didn't suck until this year. His defense is still good. Guys have bad years. I am not writing him off because of an average season with the Rangers AAA team and 31 lackluster AB's for the I-Cubs.

Dillon Maples had another nice start for Boise. He has figured it out at that level at least.

Good if Watkins is up. I've been waiting to see him at the big league level. I wouldn't be shocked if they added Edgar Gonzalez though. He is a veteran 4A guy and the older bro of adrian.

Watkins does get the call-up which is no big surprise since he was on the 40 man. He was hitting just .243 but a high OBP with 52 walks. Olt is down to .194 since joining Iowa. Hopefully this is just a lost year for him and he rebounds next year as clearly there is a job to be won at 3B for the Cubs next year.

I don't see Watkins being much more than a utility guy at best. Alcantara hopefully will be ready by late summer at the latest next year as Barney clearly has not progressed with the bat.
