How is that, Hatchet? Hoppy? Bitter? I've come close to buying it but I don't want to drink one and give away the rest.

God some of those reviews are nauseating.

I'm gonna see about getting a bottle in a six mixer. Sounds interesting. I am not a fan of IPA's at all but it sounds interesting

3 Floyd's cases are now $40. Getting harder and harder to justify the hour trip to their brewery.

I'm with you greg. I've gotten to the point with 3F's that I'd rather find something new and not sure of how good it is than to pay a premium for it.

Over lunch, saw that Trader Joe's was selling Hop Centric. I was a little surprised.

$15.99 for anybody that might still be looking around for some.

I was just at the Taphouse in Warrenville, and they have tons of Hop Centric.

Ninja Vs. Unicorn from Pipeworks. This definitely lives up to the hype. Very smooth for a DIPA. Enjoying the hell out of this one.

I just had the Something Hoppy This Way Comes from Pipeworks.

It poured an almost green color and had a distinctive flavor in there that I just couldn't place. But, for a 10% ABV, I did enjoy it and thought it was pretty smooth.

I live about two minutes from Two Brothers. i haven't been to Solemn Oath yet, but I tried one of their beers at the Two Brothers Summerfest in Aurora.

That's the one beer from Pipeworks I did not enjoy.

It had some flavor that I couldn't identify. Can't even say that I enjoyed that or didn't. It was just interesting. Overall, it wasn't bad but I'd get many others before I'd get that again.

RuinTen might be my new favorite beer of all time. I don't know if this year's Hop Centric isn't as good or, as some of you know, my taste buds are currently a bit filtered, I'm just not tasting it the same way. But, I'm just not into it as much this year. I'm waiting until August to dive back into the Hop Centric when my taste buds will be in full-force to reevaluate.

I had Hop Centric at the Two Brothers festival and was not a fan. Couple that with the $16 price tag, and I have no interest in trying the 2013 batch again. Plenty of other options out there with cheaper prices.

You're right RuinTen is awesome but a palate wrecker. I've been trending toward the lighter beers lately (Daisy Cutter, Sidekick, and Anti-Hero). DIPAs don't work well in the heat. I let a DFH 120 get a little hot, as I was drinking it at the grill. Whew, that certainly intensifies the alcohol.

I'm not disparaging Hop Centric (Juice) - it has consistently been my favorite beer for a number of years. I think it is the most balanced DIPA that I've had and that is pretty much exclusively the type of beer that I drink.

I can't really evaluate it truly just yet but I'm always good for getting a case when it comes out. It's actually significantly cheaper now per ounce since it is in 6er form. But, I'm concerned that the quality may be different for whatever reason, maybe due to the change in bottling. But I don't know enough about brewing to know if that would truly make a difference.

They did lose two brewers earlier in the year. Arguably their best brewer Dave Bleitner went to start Off Color Brewing with John Laffler and their only female brewer (the one that created Sidekick) left to work for New Belgium. Transition period could cause some inconsistencies. Not saying that's why it tastes different (I havent had it yet this year) but it is possible.

They brought it back this year in place of Cerise.

Good because Cerise was revolting.

Same here - a four of that and a four of devil dancer. I have one of each in the fridge and need some time to sit and enjoy.

Yep. Fly into Boston next Thursday. Driving up to Waterbury Friday morning and spending the night there. Plan on bringing back a couple cases.

Cool. There are three pubs with really good taplists in Waterbury as well if you have time: The Reservoir, The Prohibition Pig, and Blackback Pub.
