Skypoint...

He's easily a top five jazz guy in my book, if mostly for his stuff from 1972 to 1976. Brilliant musician.

Wind Parade (off the Places and Spaces album) is my personal favorite of all his songs.

i think every single song on Places and Spaces has been sampled by like 100 different hip hop producers

Wind Parade = Buck 'em Down by Black Moon :D

Yup. Pete Rock sampled Places and Spaces on C.L. Smooth's Main Ingredient album. You know a musician or group is great when their music inspires so many different hip hop samples.

Sucks a lot. I have four terrific Donald Byrd albums, all which I am happy to recommend here: Fuego, Royal Flush, and The Cat Walk are top-notch early '60s jazz, and Kofi is a lot like In a Silent Way. Royal Flush has Hancock and Higgins as sidemen. You cannot go wrong with that.

Jazz is pretty much dead, so he might as well join it.

I think it bears stating that you tend to make some of the most killjoy fucking posts of anybody on this board. I think you could've pretty much kept the above statement to yourself because it added nothing.

I am sorry for Cairo's loss. :(
