The notion of an unofficial mascot is really pitiful, but did Dan really have the guy on just to yell at him for taking money away from the Rickettses?

It certainly seemed like it.

It was very interesting listening to a guy pretending to be a mascot talking to a guy pretending to be a lawyer.

What gets me,the Ricketts are about to turn the outside of that park into Disneyland-lite with all kinds of shopping, entertainment, etc. and some guy in a Bears suit bothers them? That is so pathetic.

Remember when Wally Hayward was going to revolutionize the Cubs' gameday experience and then left after, like, a year, having accomplished nothing? WALLY HAYWARD, PEOPLE.

Remember when the Bears traded Brad Muster for Ironhead Heyward? Good times.

No, I don't really know much about the Bears, actually.

Well once upon a time the Bears had a fullback named Brad Muster who was pretty mediocre. They traded him to the Saints for a brusing FB named Ironhead Heyward. He lasted one season in Chicago and is now dead.

So why don't the Cubs just hire this weirdo to dress as an anthropomorphic bear and wander around? I understand they've always been against having an Official Mascot, but if this guy is already milling about the park in this costume, then the battle is half-lost already.

You don't need to change the wording on any of this and it applies to Ronnie Woo Woo as well

I agreed with that logic, except I hated the Soriano signing at any price.

I thought we overpaid for Soriano, but didn't mind getting a guy coming off a 40/40 season. The signing that I did not care for even shares the name with a board game manufactuerer. Jimmy Hasbro.

Yes, exactly, and while I just said that I knew that John McDonough was the one who overpaid for Soriano I was just joking as clearly that report, which I knew of and just agreed with, was ridiculous as, well, uh, whatever Dan just said.

Also, classy guys giggling about the overweight lady who flew out of a coaster in Texas. LOL indeed. She clearly should have realized that she didn't belong on a ride in a park where they specialize in ride safety and cleared her to ride. IDIOT!!!!1!!!

Finally, great thread title - for as much crap as they give McNeil and the Fat Man for their awful parody songs and going to accounting class with Les Numbers, Jesus this bit "and members of" is brutal. Like Mike Murphy (not far enough) bad. At least Murph gave fans Browns Chicken gift certificates.

It's one of Dan's comedy bits that he does when words that are or sound like names of bands come up in conversation. E.g,

"He went out to pick up sticks, and pick up members of Styx"
"They had a clash, and members of the Clash"
"This isn't about finding a cure, or members of The Cure"

and so on.

A pirate walks into a bar with a wheel sticking out of his pants. Bartender says "Captain, you know, you have a wheel sticking out of your pants!" Pirate says "yarrr, I know, and it's driving me nuts!"
