Blues Brothers is a great movie.

To me its just "good"

Wayne's World is just as good

Wayne's World also great.

I just saw the end of Wayne's World 2 last night on some channel. Not as great. Although I saw the Charlton Heston scene which is great.

Yeah, Waynes World 2, Major League 2, and Hangover 2 did a good job at recreating the first one sans the originality

All decent sequels

I don't like Blues Brothers either. The only redeeming quality of Blues Brothers is seeing the scenes of old Chicago neighborhoods. I never laughed once at Blues Brothers.

You didn't even appreciate Aykroyd's delivery of the line "...and some dry white toast"?

The music is what makes Blues Brothers.

And you didn't laugh at some point during the country bar scene? Thats terrible, Kid.

Yes. I listened to that soundtrack all the time as a yout'.

I could almost do the entire Cab Calloway scat.

i think the best sports comedy of all time is "bull durham", without a doubt. "caddyshack" is a gimmick sketch comedy movie much like "monty python and the holy grail". the actual plot and main characters don't matter. it's the comic standout performances of ted knight, dangerfield, and bill murray that make the movie funny.

how many golf movies are there? "the legend of bagger vance" was a disappointment.

overrated/underrated arguments are becoming very nauseating. it seems like marginal or bad films that are forgotten about get more love as they are more forgotten about, giving them an undeserved "underrated" rating. like, i've heard people say "ishtar" is underrated. are you fucking kidding me.

i'm waiting for the guy, maybe it'll be RPB, to come out and say movies like "let it ride", "short time", "loose cannons", "nothing but trouble", and "hot to trot" are all underrated comedies. although...none of them star tony danza, so... :)

btw, "saving silverman" is a very funny movie. totally underrated. :bom:

or when Aretha says "two white boys looking like Hasidic merchants..."

then, of course, there is the Chez Paul scene

Fuck, do I love Belushi, which makes my hate for his brother all the stronger.

The Blues Brothers hate just isn't warranted. It was funny and stands the test of time.

I agree with Caddyshack and Animal House..

when you pledged your frat at the U, you were doing so with thoughts of the Delta house dancing in your head...and conformist pricks on college campi across the country still do to this day. That movie has had a huge societal influence...and this dude will not abide this revisionism that it is not a great comedy.

much like Animal House, for those of us in the working 99% who toiled on golf courses in our youth, we realize the spot on comedy of Caddyshack

like WZ pointed out, it is really more of just an extended sketch but it is still a great comedy with relevance to this day.

When you compare these movies to Wayne's World, you are placing them in the proper context as it to was a great comedy.

You want to know an underrated comedy: "So I Married An Axe Murder". There are some great performances by a host of actors in that and Nancy Travis plays an excellent straight woman to all the humor.

Michael Myers made it acceptable to make fun of the Scottish again.

I am also a huge fan but that movie should have never left the Scottish house. I could watch those scenes over and over and have.

LaPaglia's reactions to Myers' Scottish father's insults of HEAD! are so realistic you can tell he was just cracking up from the ad libs. Those are great scenes.

that movie is CREEPY. here's a good story though--my dad almost got a pilot produced at katieface, danza's production company. he was even interested in it. but they went with "the tony danza show" instead. the show would've been cool. took place at a strip club. called "table tops".

there are some scenes, including especially the beach scene, where the only reason he's "protecting" her is because he wants her to himself. it doesn't come off as fatherly, it just comes off as...gross. and it just felt like a 90 minute sitcom without many laughs.
