Tel Aviv beaches are great. The entire city is very cosmopolitan. You wouldn't know you were in the middle east.

yea I'm looking forward to it. Because we are in the old man division we are required to buy the full upgrade package which is fine cause the hotels they put us in in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are both amazing looking. Staying at the Hotel David Citadel in the heart of Jerusalem, with a kick ass pool overlooking the old city. How cool is that? I'll be sitting at the pool bar drinkin pina coladas while overlooking the road where Jesus was paraded through town strapped to a cross.

Then in Tel Aviv we are staying right on the beach at the Hilton, also looks really nice.

Not sure about where we are staying in Metula for the hockey, probably some bedoin tent since it doesn't look like there is much else around there.

if you close your eyes for a minute you can almost hear the people being led off in chains by Romans, Babylonians and various other conquering nations.

Heading to Philly today to watch the Flyers vs Rangers and then after the game we take the ice where the Hawks won the Cup for a practice game. Scratch that off the bucket list.

Today's the big day. Finally finished packing a few minutes ago, headed to the airport soon for 5:45 flight to Newark. From there I have an 11:42 flight tonight to Tel Aviv, gets in Wednesday at 5:30pm. Gonna be a LONNNNNNGGGGG day.

If you want to see the opening ceremonies head to Jltv.com, they will be aired live Thursday afternoon.

I'm staying in Jerusalem for a few days, then up to Metulla for the hockey. Also taking a day tour of Masada and Dead Sea on friday.

Should be an amazing experience, hopefully I come home with a medal!

Just woke up basically. Got home late last night after 26 hours of travel.

I'll cut right to the chase.......GOLD!

Easily the most amazing experience of my life and the greatest achievement of my life as well. It was basically like miracle on ice. Lost game 1 to Jacques Demers and Canada 6-5, got smoked by Russia in game 2 11-6. Russia had the best player Iv'e ever played against. Demers said it was a crime that he never played in the NHL. He lit us up for 7. Next up we squeaked by Israel 5-2.

After that was the medal round and a date with Russia again. We finally convinced our coach to shorten our bench and basically play our top two lines (I'm 2nd line LW) and we also took our two best players and had them shadow the Russian star. My line scored 4 goals in the first but the Canadian asshole ref disallowed 2 of them including one of mine. He later dissallowed a 3rd goal. We ended up scoring the game winner with a minute and a half left to win 6-5. With a total team effort we shut down their star and held him scoreless. It was easily the hardest I've ever skated or worked in my life. 20 minute periods on olympic size rink on ice that was soft as a slurpee. After the game I did something I've never done in my life, shed tears of joy after a sporting event. I wasn't the only one. Later at the hotel the Canadian open team captain Adam Henrich who played in the NHL came over and told us it was one of the most amazing games he ever saw and that our performance was beyond awesome.

Next up was Canada again. We were down 2-0 and then 4-2 before making it 4-3 going into the 3rd. We scored quickly to tie it and then took the lead shortly after that. With about 10 minutes left in the game one of my teamates rushed it up the right boards to the blue line, I bursted in and got a step on the defense, he threw it to the net and I got a backhand on it and tippped it over the goalie's shoulder and into the upper corner, 6-4 USA! Easily the biggest goal of my life! Demers panicked and pulled his starter. We scored another with a few minutes left to make it 7-4. The packed house of about 500 was going nuts, at least the American side. Chants of USA USA throughout the game

Spent the last few days in Tel Aviv relaxing. Wore the medal everywhere and would get stopped constantly by people congratulating us and wanting to take pictures with the gold medals. Wore it on the plane home and they waived my $200 baggage fee and the fligth attendants gave me unlimited free beer the whole 11 hour ride home.

Unbelievable trip, I'll figure out how to post some photos here later on. Toured Jerusalem, Masada, Ein Geit, Dead Sea etc. Spent the whole time with great friends. Up in Metulla the rink was 100 feet from Lebanon. At night we could hear gunfire from the Lebanese and Hezballoh. On top of the hill we could see tracers.

Congrats. Don't let the news of coach Q's 3 year extension dim your Gold medal afterglow.

Congratulations on your win in the Jewish Games- Old Man Division. I hear Larry David kicked ass in the 100 meters.
