Crain on his way out of town in 3-team trade involving Tampa Bay, supposedly.

Sounds highly unlikely given he is on the DL.

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 3m crain goes to rays. @white sox

In return, Sox got Rays to pay for his medical bills and Hahn gets a free 3 day look see at how a real organization is run.

:D :D :D

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 4m The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him.

Don't play poker with this Rick Hahn. He knows all the angles!

This works. Hopefully Crain gets healthy and pitches well for the Rays and the Sox pick up a decent prospect for him. Is Hak-Ju Lee still alive??

So the Orioles are interested in Sale.....but who wouldn't be. What would it take to even consider talking to them. Gausman, Bundy and Eduardo Rodriguez?? Bundy won't be pitching until next August most likely but that would still be a haul and it would give the O's the fast track to the World Series with a shut down starter like Sale.

A much better package than the Indians got for Sabathia. Sale is one of the best starters in MLB under team control for a few years for very little money (relatively speaking).

It would have to include 1-2 MLB ready arms and 1-2 MLB ready position players, along with 2-3 prospects-- 1 high and maybe 2 mid level. If the O's were to call on Sale I would ask for Manny Machado.

Orr would trade him and his 6-10 records for a couple of PTBNL.

I dont think you can go off the Sabathia trade. The market is a lot different now, you dont see a lot of top prospects (I mean like #1 #2 guy in organizations) being moved

4 mlb ready players for Sale? How would the other team field a roster?

They shouldnt trade him anyway

The 3 I listed were their top 3 prospects, all 3 starting pitchers. The problem is most teams don't have mlb ready talent sitting around. Its in the majors not hanging out in AAA.

Maybe they think, long term, that Sale is destined for arm trouble.

What was the haul Tampa Bay got for that ace they sent to KC?

 That doesn't matter but I imagine if the Sox traded Sale (which I don't endorse) the haul should be about the same.

Shouldn't be the Sox concern.

Don't trade him unless its clear to everybody you are getting the better end of the deal. Trading him just seems like such a terrible idea unless its an offer you cant refuse type of situation.

It should not be the same as Sale is a better every day of their lives, is younger and is under control for SIX years...and the Rays got Wil Meyers who was considered in the elite category of prospects plus additional players.

Really, to me the conversation for Sale to the Orioles begins with Machado plus the guy who had Tommy John surgery. It's not like the Orioles are buying a player a short term player. They are buying someone who makes them better for the foreseeable future.

The Sox will never get full value for Sale and that's why he won't be traded. It's the same reason why Seattle never traded King Felix.

It's too risky to trade Sale OR trade for him. Could cost your job. Not worth it. Easier to play it safe.

Well, Peavy is not starting tonite so he must be close to getting traded

Quote:
CBSSports.com's Scott Miller has confirmed that veteran White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy will not make his scheduled Tuesday start against the Indians. Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune originally reported that the Sox might bump Peavy. That decision, of course, means that Peavy, who's recently been the subject of many a rumor, may be traded before Wednesday's non-waiver deadline.

In place of Peavy, the White Sox will call up and start 25-year-old Andre Rienzo. When he takes the mound, Rienzo will become the first native of Brazil ever to pitch in a major-league game.

This season, the 32-year-old Peavy has pitched to a 4.28 ERA and career-best 4.47 K/BB ratio across 13 starts. He's coming off a 2012 season in which he made the All-Star team and put together his best campaign since he won the NL Cy Young in 2007.

Peavy is owed $14.5 million for 2014 and has a vesting option for 2015. Financial commitments aside, the veteran has a healthy demand for his services leading up to the deadline.

Don't know much about out him. Cuban, 3rd year in the bigs though first year he has really been up other than a cup of coffee call up. He has had a nice year average wise but it looks like its almost primarily base hits. I see he has split time between short and third. Defense seems good. I can't see a table setter holding down third so maybe ramirez is next to go.

It absolutely fills their need but what are the Sox getting from them? Dammit. I know Crosby is in this.....I just know it.
