Ya gotta take advantage of every resource you have in this radio biz. Some producers at the Score don't realize this. Some have never had an advocate like Mac.

Hell, Mac tried to be Goff's friend. Tried to help him get going at the Score. What did Goff do when Mac extended his friendship? Goff wang-whipped Mac over and over and over and over again.. Why? Who the hell knows? I've got a few ideas as to why. I've probably shared them here. I don't remember. Bottom line is Mac eventually pulled out his wang for the ultimate whipping!!!!

Eventually Finfer is gonna have to sink or swim without Mac. But it's sure nice to have a Mac throw you through that glass ceiling. Finfer was going no where at ESPN 1000 before Mac rescued him.

Don't you think you're reading too much into this? Finfer said he's cool with everyone, and he seems down-to-earth. Unless he hasn't been forthcoming, and I wouldn't hold it against him either if he's held back, why should we assume guys are jealous of him?

No. Jealousy and hate are natural human emotions. Some people are above this, not Bernstein's soldiers. They've shown hate and jelously in the past towards co workers. Why would it stop now?

Don't you think Tommy Williams thought he was cool with Larry when Larry worked under him? I'm sure he did. Then Larry goes on the air years after Tommy is gone and insinuates that TW was an "Uncle Tom".

I'm sure drinky thought he was cool with Spiegel until Spiegel called him a "part timer".

Finfer thinks he's cool with everybody. They probably all act like friends. Like most people act around their in-laws. Of course he's a down to earth guy. He's a radio producer. Why wouldn't he be down to earth?

These are Score people. The worst kind of people. They view everybody at the station as a threat to them and thus an enemy. They view the listeners as the enemy for the love of God.

Every one of the backups thinks that they should have next. They all think they are a star in waiting that are being kept down by the evil Mitch and Zim. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual salary is at stake. That's life changing money. So of course they hate and resent anybody that breaks ahead of them in the race.

Radio message board posters are the worst kind of people actually.

Here's a good question.

Ben, at ESPN 1000 the producers have no on air presence. They aren't allowed to sub nor are they allowed to talk on their master's show.

1. Was that made clear by your ESPN 1000 bosses? That producers would never be "on air" talent and that you weren't allowed to speak on the shows unless the host called upon you to speak?

2. Besides Mac asking you to come with him to the Score, was part of the appeal of going to 670 the fact that they let their producers run wild? Were you thrilled to go to the Score knowing they unleash their producers on Chicago much to the horror of Chicago?

3. I know you think you're great, but would you agree that some of the Score's producers don't belong on the air? Do you think maybe ESPN 1000 had it right for the most part? Except for you, of course. You're great.

Follow up question: When do you intend to quit and spare the listening audience from hearing your voice?

I've dreamt of being on sports radio since I started listening to Score 20 years ago. And I'm getting closer to achieving that. So I'm sorry that you don't like my work. But I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. You'll just have to, you know, listen to something else when I'm on. Although I hope you choose to stay.

Interesting. Finfer is saying something here. What have you been promised, Ben? Has Mac made sure that you get his show when he leaves in a year.

Yep. And not just his show. I get all of them.

I haven't been promised anything. Radio is not a business where promises mean a whole lot anyway. Also, is Mac's contract already up next year? Damn that's soon. He and Lebron will be free agents at the same time I guess.

Let me start with #3. I am not great. I want to be, but am not right now. Sometimes I think I'm good, sometimes I agree with some of you and think I suck. Most of the time it's somewhere in between. Hopefully I'll get better. Work in progress.

As far as producers on the air...consider the big difference between the two stations. Local air time. We have a lot of it at the Score. ESPN does not. So that is why we get more time. And yes, that is a part of the reason why I wanted to work at the Score (but not the only reason). I get opportunities at 670 that I didn't get at 1000.

Also, I don't agree with your premise that producers don't belong on the air. Some do. Some don't. Producer is one of several jobs you can have that might lead to being a on-air host one day.

Finfer can actually admit when he is wrong and isn't afraid of valid criticism. That's a rarity on the Score.

He's already the fourth best host on the station.

Ben heres something to hang your hat on as far as some of the crap youll catch here. As long as the Score continues to employ Abbatacola, you'll never be the worst producer who gets air time nor the unfunniest person at the Score. :thumleft: :thumright:

Its more that responding to him is like making eye contact with a stalker. You have probably just opened the floodgates to this being a 75 page thread with him filling 70 of the pages.

You have to also be excited that you should get between 75-100 days on the air with the princess' country club schedule. If properly notified ahead of this by show guru someguy....those will be the 75-100 days I shall tune in.

Ben, do you worry at all about what Bernstein or anyone thinks of your opinion ?

Don't reflexively answer its not a shot but he seemingly has a big shadow over the station and a ton of influence

Some are definitely seeking has approval (for at least three more years)

Also, what makes Bernstein better than Mac in your uniquely informed opinion?
