I'm more interested in who they are getting from Boston. All this Jackie Bradley Jr talk is driving me crazy. I'm going to be pissed with whoever they get but he would make me a lot less pissed.

There is no way in hell they are trading him in this deal. I figured they were done after iglesias. The Sox supposedly came back to the table with lesser demands.

No word yet on the $$ changing hands but Garcia looks to be a good catch assuming BOS is paying most of the Peavy salary.

Looks like Hahn must have told Kenny to stay away from him so he could concentrate on making a good trade.

:D :D :D

Les loves the trade cause Sox do not have to pay money like Cubs did with Soriano and Garza.

Nope. It's awesome. The Epstein model. Get a bunch of prospects and hope some of them are good. None of us know these guys from Adam.

These guys are very very young. Low A ball. Hope the Sox have some good scouts.

I can't figure out why nobody is talking about Danks. That's where all the money is. That's the guy who I'd be trying to move. You've got three other young lefties. I'd send him if I could just get rid of that salary.

But you know, I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Cubs fan and he was saying he was surprised that the Cubs got as much as the did for Garza based on the idea that he is a rental for a couple months and that he thought the Sox could get more for Peavy. I told him I think he's got it backwards. Teams don't mind giving up the prospects for a guy who is helping them make a run. They'd rather do that than take on future years and more salary. In other words, Peavy being signed may have made him worth less rather than more. And God only knows if anyone wants to choke on Danks.

You just explained why nobody wants Danks. Pray he can get back a couple more MPH on the fastball by next year.

I think Texas had a real hard-on for Garza for some reason. Sometimes you get infatuated with somebody and just have to have him at all cost.

Yeah, I know. But I think Danks is a valuable commodity for the right team. The Sox just aren't it right now. A left-hander that can give you 200 consistent innings doesn't grow on trees. And I know he hasn't done that in a few seasons, but I don't expect getting the innings to be his problem going forward. He's not my kind of pitcher as I think he's mediocre and manages to lose games on his own all the time. But he's exactly the kind of guy the Cardinals get and make hay with while you wonder why he wasn't that good when he was with your team.

I don't hate the trade from the W.Sox perspective.

Feel like they maybe could have gotten a bit more back in terms of talent, but they liked the idea of Boston taking on all of Jake's money so they went that direction.

These 2 pitchers cannot possibly be worse than the Tronocos, Omogrossos, and Veals the Sox have been parading out of the bullpen lately. They also get a top notch OF prospect, and get rid of Jake's $. Win Win Win for all teams involved.

I hate HATE the Red Sox, but will be very happy for Peavy if he can get into the playoffs.

Montas is the hardest thrower in the Red Sox system. Touches 100. But both he and Wendelken project as relievers, and Rondon as utility guy

They already have a starting staff of young pitchers so those relievers will come in handy when they develop for next years playoff push

It sure looks like the Sox got a better return for Peavey than the Cubs got for Garza....oh, I forgot, that A ball pitcher who weighs 155 pounds is being projected as a top of the rotation starter in a short period of time.

I don't see how you could say they got a better return. Obviously no one knows right now, but I think at best you could say is they got a similar return. But I think most of the "experts" would say the Cubs got the better return right now.

A BP guy who was on with M&H thought the Sox got the best of it. Are we suddenly dismissing Baseball Prospectus?

So the deadline passed and the butt nugget twins are still here. Hahn trades Peavy but keeps those two assholes. That's a bunch of bullshit. I read Garcia projects as a corner but can handle centerfield for now. They better play his ass everyday in center for the rest of the season.

You're gonna choke on those words like Bernstein with Uribe when Alejandro De Aza wins the 2016 World Series for the Sox.

Yeah tough loss in the NLCS after half the team catches the plauge from squirrels after a late September series with the Dodgers.
