Does the country follow the games closely so that people treat you as a mini celeb or was it just a matter of them seeing a guy wearing a big medal and they figured they would play along with you?

I'm just surprised that all of the hockey games didn't end in a score of 0-0.

Games are televised nationally, 40,000 people enter the country to follow them and spend over $200,000,000 to the local economy. The opening ceremonies were sold out and attended by over 36,000 people with tickets costing around $300 a piece.

Yea, I'd say the games are followed pretty closely in Israel.

Wearing the gold medal around Tel Aviv got us an immediate table at a restaurant with an hour wait, entrance to a closed museum with a guided tour and countless photos with the locals who just wanted to see one up close.

Were you at all worried about backlash from you calling out your teammates in the media after the early round loss?

I would have thought they see obnoxious American lawyers all the time over there.

Don't take it personally.

If anything I think it inspired them to pick up their play. More importantly, I called out the coach who later turned it around and adopted a completely different gameplan which is the reason we won.

15 minutes not quite over. Headed to the Israeli Consulate to the Midwest this afternoon to be honored along with other Maccabei participants. Of course I'll be wearing the medal. And I'll be shunning anyone there who didn't win gold.

Obama did submit a video message that was played at the opening ceremonies along with one from the British prime minister. The President and Prime Minister of Israel were in attendance and they both gave speeches.
