Agreed, when one can laugh about their arch nemesis dancing on his grave, you know he
can take a good joke and let it roll off his back.

I'd have to put Frank in there as well although the last six months or so with bigfan and him have been troubling. I blame it on wedding jitters.

Chaunce was the Sgt. Pepper's of mults. Just an epic, fully-realized parfait of absurdity. Nothing has approached it since. THe Chaunce was active when I started here. I didn't know what it was, or who he was, but I knew I was witnessing something important in the world of precision trolling. The more I info I gleaned, the funnier it became.

I have gone on record as saying it is the funniest thing ever on this board, and it makes absolutely no sense out of the context of this board. Pretend I'm new here. Try to explain it to me. Try to explain it to Sparkle.

Well, if you're going to twist my arm...

The legend of The Chaunce began with a 25 year old rpb. I was working early mornings consistently for the first time and living alone (had roommates previously). I was without cable for the first time in my life. The apartment was owned by a friends parents. It wasnt cable ready and I needed to watch the budget so their would be no Cable for me. This is when I got into doing hardcore AMR (Am radio)

I was out of control. Id listen to MJH after work. Id come home drunk and have an Amy Lawrence nightcap or listen to Bobby V betting horses in London for the foundation. I didnt care. It was all good. I wasnt hurting anybody, I was paying my bills, so I went deeper, I began to call in.

What name should I use? Something to be remembered like this Frank Costanza and Dr Kenneth Noisewater character? I guess Ill keep it simple. I had just moved in the neighborhood and my name is Bryan, thus rogers park bryan Begins

Now Im famous. People at work heard me on the radio. Friends would say "was that you?" and I was eating it up. Too much was never enough. Mike and Mike, The OG night show, Carm and Silvy, Roe and Garry, and when I was really looking for a wild ride, Sean Hannity.

It was weird. There were moments when I knew it was a dark path I was on. Moments where I stepped outside myself and saw myself sitting there listening to the radio thru my phone waiting for the cue and thinking "What the hell happened to you man?" But the rush of the airwaves drowned out any semblence of sense and dignity.

Now you're dealing with America's worst nightmare. Young, White, sports radio caller, and I dont give a fuck

But that's not why you called....

The Chaunce.

Working early mornings and having a serious addiction to AMR made for some early saturdays. Id wake up at 6am needing a fix. Score fill in, Espn backup, some wgn hack, whatever man, just roll that shit light that shit smoke it.

Well at this time my station of choice was the Dan McNeil led ESPN 1000. It was on most of the time. Now if you're reading this, you may have some AMR issues but for those who dont, its not real good for the body. You dont jump out of bed. So more saturdays than I care to remember, I woke up, immoblie, strung out on Sean Salisbury and unable to move. Id hear a voice in the background talking about fishing, sailing, and other non sports.

If I could formulate cogent thoughts at that point, and I probably couldnt, I would have said, "WTF is this shit?" but one thing stuck out. The closing proverb.

At 6 am after a long week of trading between recreational drugs (green, alcohol) to the hard stuff (J Hood postgame, Oak Park Vandy) a proverb cut deep....

yada yada yada

Im about a year deep in my CSFMB career and Sarley and I get into a conversation about his show and who he is. I ask if Chaunce is his rival. He scoffs. BAD IDEA.

I immediately went to work building the Sarley villian who would be called The Chaunce

The formula was,

Resist overposting by ONLY responding about or to Sarley
Keep the proverb (with a crazy twist) as signature and then to end each post
Use pop cultural references to keep the appeal broad
Never stray from the formula /\

Well, I think you know what happened after that....

And that's about it. He was good. And then he was gone. Like Sands thru the hourglass, he was the mult of our lives
