See, this shit aint good. I knew it was coming, as they traded a number of players, and getting over losing is a part of growing no matter what you do. Yet, pulling this shit again next year I think is a huge mistake! Go ahead and keep guys at the break, just dont let this team fall part again after Aug 1, huge mistake! You cant expect Rizzo to be a leader of continuing losing teams. You get nothing out of that except arguments, player fights, closed door meetings. Etc. We are stepping from A to B , dont go back to A

I understand THE PLAN, but I also know you just expect guys to play in a losing culture for the first 3 years of their careers and think it will have no effect on them. At some point players give up, in all sports.

I am not asking to go sign multi year deals for $100 mill players, but make sure you have Major Leaguers for the whole season and if Scott Baker does rehab and becomes a decent pitcher, dont trade him just to get another late round pitcher at this point, I think it will become more important to win, than to hope the 10th rd arm they get develops.

Most of the Cubs played well enough last night. Its not every guy on the roster's fault that edwin jackson is getting paid a lot of money and blows. At least they got a few tolerable starts out of him before he went back to sucking balls.

BigFan,
Atta' Boy!

I disagree to some extent. Guys that came up through the Cubs farm system in the early 60's,played on a lot of crap teams. Suddenly in 1967,the Cubs became very good and it continued until 1973.

Sign Gavin Floyd next year in the hopes he will be rehabbed and ready to trade in August

different eras?

24 hour media cycle, twitter, DaMaNa dogging you on the radio every morning.

Cubs can't seem to fill 3B this season.

go out and pick up Brandon Inge off the waiver or whatever wire.

Inge apparently was a big help in the clubhouse with a young Oakland team last season and possibly brought some of that
veteran mojo to Pittsburgh earlier this season.

Inge started off on a Detroit team that set records for losing before making the World Series not long after that record setting losing season.

Don't have to play the guy every game, just have him around the clubhouse, in the dugout and get him some late game AB's and defensive replacement innings.

Danny Woo Woo is second only to Bernstein as the Score Cubs Apologist.

Is that a Theo-era thing for Bernstein? Don't recall how he talked about Lou, seems they mostly mocked the Cubs back then, depsite the team actually being good--until October rolled around.

'Flip that Pitcher', next season on MLB network.

1. Trade players for prospects

2. ???

3. Win world series.

Hey, Scott Feldman got you Jake Arrieata who has the ability to battle Jason Grimm for worst starting pitcher on a bad staff, so that is a win.

Feldman became Eloy Jimenez and outsmarted Jerry all in one swipe!

And thats not even a shot at Jerry, because he is probably the smartest owner when it comes to business moves (Worst when it comes to marketing).

Arrieta and Strop are throw ins, if they work, great, if not, kenny can get Strop in 2 years because he can throw 97, POWER ARM

Ive been saying for three years that 2014 should be the year where they make a run at the wild card.

Im not sure about the guys on losing teams thing. I mean, if the Pirates happen to win the WS this year, that theory will be out the window

Im sure there is evidence on both sides

Pirates were in 1st place last year in July. All young guys got a taste of winning. If they dont win, thats one thing, but to keep dismantling teams becomes an issue.

The Feldman move is something the White Sox have perfected over the few years. Buy low on a pitcher with a high pedigree.

You should move onto Packers trolling. Much better.

Edit: I should add the Cubs traded a guy who at the beginning of the season you wanted to fade every start. He was that awful. But he got 3 young pieces.

I'm no kid, but 27 isn't young for a guy pitching in AAA.

I still dont throw tons of credit for Arrieta at Theo Inc.

They have said, pitching is thrown against the wall and see what sticks. Jake stuck....and they didnt know he would be this good....it is a product of their plan.

If, when they acquired Jake, they specifically said "we think he has 20 win potential" thats another story.

THE PLAN, has produced very little pitching overall.

Shark = Worst in MLB in August
Jaker = Best in MLB in August

MLB fever catch it.

Anyone see Shark coming back for 4 years $80 Mill????

I assume he actually will want to win next year, so he will consider that first, as I assume most offers will be similar. I think he will see 3 year offers for $50 mill out of the gate.

His people will talk and Theo will verbally offer 4 years for $80 mill, which is what they offered before....and his numbers dont warrant much more.

Look for Arizona to make some offers. They need pitching and he has a house there now....
