Does anyone know a way to get Cohibas sent to them here? If you do are hesitant to post it here please PM me. I want to give them as gifts to my groomsmen at my wedding in October.

When I was in the Caymans the guy at the cigar shop said he could ship them to me, but I'm obviously a little nervous about that. Has anyone tried something like that?

Have someone from Mexico or Canada pick them up and remove the Cohiba wrappers and replace them with ones from the Dominican Republic. Then, if they are checked over, they will pass.

I think the guy who got his license pulled for bringing in Cubans was doing it on a level where he was clearly intending to distribute and had been doing it for a while. Even then, the only way the government found out was because he was going through a nasty divorce and his wife alerted the authorities.

First of all I would never give someone a Cuban cigar as a gift, especially if they intend to smoke it. They are especially strong to the point you will get dizzy and ready to puke.

I was told "Then you know you have a good Cuban cigar!"

Steve is correct. Many places get them with dominican wrappers on them. Most important to get a box with the Dominican seal not broken.

Cohibas aren't strong, they're quite mild. Smoked a bunch of them in the Caymans in February.

Followed your advice and read that article, then went ahead and bought a 5 pack of these for like $31. The price for a box of 20 is half the price that a box of 10 Cohibas cost. Cohibas came in 2nd in the poll.

First of all, most cuban cigars are full bodied, not mild. I have never had a mild cuban cigar. If your groomsmen are experienced cigar smokers then they might like a full bodied smoke. If not, most cigar novices can handle a mild cigar, but wont like a strong one. Cubans are good, but there isn't much difference anymore between cubans & other fine cigars from elsewhere. Hell, you can buy Cohibas that aren't cubans & your groomsmen will think they are anyway. There are a lot of counterfeit cohibas out there, so I would be leary of ordering them online. One of my sales guys bought a box while in Miami a few years ago. He was so proud when he returned & broke the box open & gave me one. As soon as I fired it up I knew it was fake. Tasted like crap & had a terrible burn & ash.

After dinner at my wedding I had my brothers walk around to the tables and offer everyone a cigar. Most people won't take any. There was one fuck who was invited only because he was head of a group we frequently with who took a handful. On the macro scale, its a small cost of doing business but what a schnorrer. Anyway, I think it is kind of a cool move and probably only sets you back the cost of a couple of boxes of modest cigars.
