This is a career year for Nate. It would be foolish not to trade him, even if for an A prospect with potential.

Agreed, they'll probably get more than what Boston gave up for Peavy.

No way. Garcia straight up for Schierholz probably doesn't get done unless DET was desperate for a LH bat. Garcia could be a big time stud.

I thought Ryan Sweeny was doing a really good job prior to fracturing his rib. he's expected back in mid August as well.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m Source: #Cubs expect to move either DeJesus or Schierholtz. DeJesus might be more likely; Schierholtz fits vs. RHPs in ’14. #Pirates on both

Wait a minute. Jackson is so bad at Iowa that he gets demoted to Tennessee, and somehow the Cubs will call him up in August or September?

Donnie Murphy has had his contract purchased and will be at the park today wearing the glorious #8 jersey. That shows that they really did cut borbon for being an idiot yesterday. Message sent.

The Cubs have signed OF Thomas Neal who was recently DFA'd by the Yankees to clear roster space.....probably for Alex. Thomas went to Poway High School. This is the same school Thomas DeLonge of Blink 182 attended 10 years earlier than Neal. Shark notes aside....this guy has hit for average his entire minor league career but hasn't ever gotten a look in the bigs. He used to have power 22/90 back in high a ball but has gone the ichiro average route since it seems.

Guerier has now been transferred to the 60 man DL which basically means he is done with the Cubs. Thanks for helping get Marmol the fuck out of town. This opens up a 40 man spot. Who will they salvage from another teams dumpster this time??

I would be very tempted to pull the trigger on a Mark Reynolds waiver claim. Probably 1.5 mil left to pay him this year and he goes to arbitration for a final time heading into his free agent year. With as weak of a season as he has had he would probably get no more than the 6 mil he got this year. If you are willing to blow that much on Baker who won't even pitch a game most likely then I would do it on a guy who will hit 20-30 bombs while striking out like a madman.

It's not the worst idea. You probably won't get better than him on a one year deal

Navarro is ok and will not go on the DL. Boscan is back to Iowa and with Neal being transferred to the 60 day DL Darnell McDonald has been added to the 40 man and 25 man rosters.

Jose Dariel Abreu has left the building...well if Cuba was a building. 26 year old freak show beast of a hitter. Not the worlds greatest athlete and thus plays first. Rizzo is athletic enough to go to the OF though I have never actually seed him throw any substantial distance. Regardless.....if you can blow 52 million on a pitcher who blows you can pony up twice that for the greatest hitter in the world!!!

Makes lots of sense for the Cubs to save 2.5 million and have the youngsters play.
If you wanted (I don't) DeJesus back you just received most of his 2014 salary.

WTF is Washington thinking?

Washington isn't really even in it. Weird. I want some Szczur or Ha. I do not want to see the mcdonald, gillespie or sappelt shit show anymore. Let the kids play not the 4A hacks.

I'm fine with that. I think Ryan Sweeney is worth holding on to for next season and maybe Scheirholtz too? You have Bogosevic too,who bats lefthanded. I wouldn't mind those 3 rotating in & out of the lineup BUT they need consistent hitting at all 4 INF positions. The two catchers have been decent as a combo.
