Darwin is 5th in the NFL among DT's with 27 1/2 sacks since 2002. He is considered an elite pass rushing DT. Although undersized at just under 300 lbs., Walker is one the strongest DT's in the League, pound for pound. He has a low center of gravity and is very explosive off the snap. Walker and Harris will combine to make up the fastest and most explosive interior D-line in the League, which will limit team's ability to double Tommie Harris on every play. The Bears will likely work a rotation consisting of 6-8 D-lineman on any given Sunday. They have the quickest interior D-line in the NFL, the best three man DE rotation in the League, the best overall starting four up front in the League, and this bolsters their claim to being the #1 overall Defense in the League.

More to come as time warrants...

That is unacceptable. Your post title indicates that you will have a Darwin Walker fact every day.

Don't worry. I'll have all sorts of lengthy thoughts on all kinds of NFL topics.

Here is a Darwin Walker fact: He is a Vol. And he was regarded as THE strongest player (in the weight room) on the Vols' 1998 National Championship team.

Who was the last Vol on the Bears official in-season roster and what position did he play? (Don't look it up  ).

There's got to be one more recent, but Willie Gault (WR) was a Vol.

When did you start getting all these great thoughts on sports topics? Keep em coming?

They've always been there, I've just making more time at work to write them out. I hope to be an active poster in the Bears/NFL discussion this fall/winter (actually now, that the NFL Season is on!).

Yep. There is one more recent. Not very memorable, apparently, but he did have one decent season as a Bear.

That's the spirit! CSFMB is far more appreciative of your efforts than your "work"

This was another great move by Angelo. I hate to admit it(since I am not a Bears fan) but would you guys agree Angelo is one of the top 3 or top 5 front office guys in the league? He seems to be spot on on almost every draft pick, he always seems to make trades that make alot of sense, and almost every move he has made has somehow helped the team get to where its at. Darwin Walker for a 5th rounder is a great deal, especially since trading Harris for a 5th rounder made up for. Essentially dealing a safety, a position of strength, for a very good DT, a questionable position coming into the season. That said I think they need another DT to step up during the year, whether its Dusty, Idonije, or whoever, to be able to consistently stop the run all year, which i think would be one of the biggest focuses this year like Mac said sometime earlier this week(especially the first two games of the year)

Another fact, his father was a Chicago cop. He is married to a woman with an engineering degree as well. They co own a large construction company.

I forgot about Jeremy Lincoln. The guy I was thinking about was Shane Burton, who was a DT in 99.

In 2000, he was elected to the South Dakota Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame!

I thought this was a great move by Angelo but $2 million this season is a little much for a band leader. Lovie still doesn't earn 2M does he?

It would have been more impressive if he were the South Carolina shot put and discus champion in the state of Idaho.

Darwin Walker was born on the same calendar day as Jim Belushi, Courtney Cox, Mario Cuomo, Helen Hunt and Waylon Jennings.

Fact for today:

Walker was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 3rd round of the 2000 draft and was released before that season. He was later claimed by the Eagles off waivers and made the team.

That is a pretty amazing fact. For a team to cut a 3rd round pick either shows how bad that player flopped in training camp (whether it was a total lack of performance on the field or continued problems off of it) is really saying something. I'm not sure if the Cardinals reached on him, and then just thought he couldn't play after getting him into camp, but I think a more likely scenario shows that the Cardinals managment was that inept.
