Not to mention I think an athlete who worked his whole life to get to the Olympics doesn't want to go to the games just to get arrested. Secondly, if we as a country or western society as a whole are going to uphold ourselves as right or civilized then we defend basic human rights. We fight for those who can't fight for themselves. Lastly, if as Larry said above, because we have made past mistakes in not defending human rights doesn't mean we skip it this time.
