Should have hired my guy Sandberg.

It'll never happen, but imagine if tonight they fired Svuem, hired Sandberg and DFA'd Marmol?

Talk about news...

No, Sandberg surprisingly isn't low key like Svuem. I also think Sandberg has a fucking brain, unlike Zombie Svuem. Ricketts obviously has something against Sandberg.

To bad because I think Sandberg over the next few years will prove to be a damn good manager and Svuem probably goes back to being a batting coach or a bench coach somewhere.

Svuem has no clue how to manage a bullpen and hasn't from Day 1. He also is an extremely poor game manager as well. What does he bring to the table? You got me.

Has there ever been a time where the two Chicago baseball teams had 2 managers who were more incompetent, inept, & unqualified? Sveum & Ventura. 8 games of MLB managerial experience! Shame on Tom & Jerry.

You're the fuck. He can only play the 25 he is given on any game day.

I agree with you to a degree. But after Russell did so well in the 8th, why not let him also pitch the 9th? Why not only use Marmol in games they have no chance to win, or in the 6th, 7th innings, maybe even the 8th, but not in the 9th?

As far as CP guy's opinion that Marmol "had nothing".....that's wrong. Marmol actually had a pretty good slider. He got beat on every hit on a fastball. I put some of the blame on the catcher for that, or whomever was calling pitches. Marmol's fastball has very little movement and he can't throw it 95 these days either. Makes for a dangerous pitch to throw with a game on the line. If he's gonna throw it, it should be out of the strike zone when he's ahead in the count. Throw it up above the letters or down and away where it can't hurt you. You change the batters eye level and might even get a dumb hitter to swing and miss on it. But you just want to show it to the hitter and then get him out with the slider. But the catcher called fastballs in the strike zone and disaster ensued.

Sometimes you need to fire the manager, just to keep players from getting complacent. It sends the message that ownership does not accept the current level of performance and effort. I doubt Sveum will ever be a great manager, based on many of his decisions on how to use guys out of the bullpen. So firing him would never be looked back upon like firing LaRusso or someone of that ilk. It would certainly make the season more interesting.

This sums it up. While others complain about Dale, Theo can DFA Marmol any time he wants. Choosing not to is baffling.

I think what we are seeing right now in Chicago is exactly what happens when MLB teams hire Managers who have no fucking business managing a big league ballclub. Sveum? Ventura? For God sakes, between them they have 8 games of MLB managing experience. Theo should call Sandberg immediately & apoligize & give him the job. As for the White Sox, I have no idea who they should hire, but anyone would be better.

Svuem can't resist using Russell even in a blowout win.

Maybe Dale wanted him to hear the boos while the mishap is still fresh?

Dammit....I'm watching the game on a slight delay with the game tracker and since Castro was up next I figured he must have hit a home run with your post....not ground out to 3rd.

All managers have the same stats. Svuem has never since Day 1 shown any clue on how to use a bullpen. Hairston mashes LHP. Even dumb fans like me know that.

The guy is clueless.

This guy just continues to be clueless.

In the last week, he leaves a clearly gassed Shark in the game to give up a 3 run bomb, then a couple days ago, down 2, he bunts his cleanup hitter in the 9th (who subsequently pops out to the catcher) then tonight, he leaves Jeff "Home Run" Russell in to face Marlon Byrd in the 7th and Byrd not shockingly launches a HR to give PITTS the lead.

Get rid of this clown at seasons end and let's get a real manager!

I rip the Cubs management all year but no way can I say Sveum sucks. Every manager will get screwed by a decision here and there. I think he is a good baseball guy and I can't blame much of what has happened on him the last two seasons. It's not much of a horse race if you don't have a horse!

He's 76 more losses away from navigating this team right out of making it to the Postseason. I've had just about enough of this guy.

Fire Sveum!

22 months later. Done deal.

Per the tweets of a one Ken Rosenthal.

Agreed. I have no animosity toward Sveum, as he was given a load a crap to manage. If this move was made to get Girardi, then I'm good with it. If not, then it's Theo being a douche.

great baseball thoughts here. Bring in Joe for a team that won't contend for a world series until 2016.

Well, I think bringing him in would accelerate the path to respectability. Plus, one could argue Girardi's biggest contribution would be working with developing talent vs. filling out the lineup card when the team is actually good.

It's do or die time for Theo and the boys now. Usually the GM gets to bring in his guy 1 time, this will be their 2nd guy. If this one doesn't work, Ricketts needs to nut up and make changes.
