  If the candyman had to beg to take a paycut to come back   That is usually a nice way of saying we don't value you anymore but we feel bad putting you to the curb. Then you are supposed to leave on your own so they don't feel bad. You aren't supposed to take the paycut.

J Webb seems to be a good backup. He can try and play a few different positions.

Might even be a great move for the Bears if this guy gets a second chance, he might actually try.

I would have signed him, but make him very aware they are still looking at J Scott if he comes back he could be cut. Got to keep this guy wondering

Webb simply does not care. He never has. I still remember him admitting after getting beaten in the pre season by that veteran SD end who's career was finished that he did not put in enough time in the off season. This was going into his second year in the league, the off season where every rookie busts his ass to catch up to a league that is much more difficult than expected. Nothing motivates him. He is like some California stoner type.

The Big Webbowski.

Sounds like professional pylon J'Marcus, with his begging for a pay cut to stay on the team, took a play out of Meat's recent playbook.

Lotta proven losers being kept around these days just because they appeal to sentimentality and are willing to come cheap.

Sucks. For all.

Wait, hold da phone....can the rumor of Meatpants having to take a pay cut to stay at the score be confirmed? And where did you hear the from?

I posted on it right when it happened. Nothing confirmed, "just a hunch".

A STRONG hunch, though. From my perch, all signs point to just that as having happened.

Mitch is definitely NOT a Wartime Consigliere.

What "things and stuff" happened that wpuld lead you tp have such a hunch?

In regards to Meatpants, this is a major story. I had no idea. He made the right move. Where is he going? Northy should have done the same thing.

JWebb is the kind of guy who was told (a la Eddy Curry) "Hey man, you're a big guy. If you play football, you can go to college for free, and possibly makes millions in the NFL!"

That's why the pay cut was no big deal.....he's probably not a big spender, thus probably has a decent savings.

I can't imagine he had any kind of amazing salary to begin with. He probably was just forced to take part time pay since he is virtually a part time employee.

The guy is going into his 4th year in the league, with three as a starter. I assume he has eclipsed the 2 million mark in career earnings. He'll take his 700K this year, then probably sign a two year with a pay bump next year. He will have the John St. Clair career and still be bouncing around on someone's roster until he is at least 30. He'll make his 10 million bucks and probably never watch another football game in his life, just getting stoned and enjoying life. Not a bad existence for The Big Webbowski
