Ditka spouted some motivational-seminar boilerplate about how playing football isn't about money, but rather about the experience of victory and the forging of lifelong relationships. The counterargument, best as I could gather, is as follows:

1. Of course football's not about money. That's true of every job! You don't remember the money*, you remember the people.

2. No one ever remembers the people, though, because you get new teammates all the time.

3. Why even bring Tomatoface in to say this? Who's he arguing against? What idiot ever said playing football was about money?

4. By the way, playing football is totally about money.

5. And why does everyone always say the relationships they make in football are more important than other ones? Quit mythologizing the organized destruction of brain tissue. Football is stupid and meaningless and teaches you nothing. After the break: we learn all about the BEARS with Zach Zaidman!

Then they talked about how disappointing it is that Northwestern football has a motto, because they're soooo good at football already and their players are soooo much smarter than everyone else's jeez why does anyone need a stupid motto just block and tackle it's not like these are a bunch of dumb 19 year olds or something

*I was disappointed that this was not followed by "you remember the monetizing."
