I agree with JORR. Sit down and have a couple beers with the kid. See what he's all about.

Peter punched the kid, then they pretty much became friends, the kids needed Cindy's books, because when Peter punched him, knocked out a tooth.

Not really relevant to this, but I hate that schools WANT to have all sorts of authority over your kid - drug tests, body cavity searches, confiscation of property, etc. but they want to have no responsibility when shit like this happens. Kick the fucking kid out of school. Make pops pay for a special school for the little fuckhead. That'd stop it quick.

The thing is, you can't be with them all the time. This kid and his dad sound like jag-offs. Maybe Spaulding's kid will lay him out again.

But I thought bullying wasn't tolerated these days?

Don't want to alarm you, but I think you might've enrolled the kid in prison.

re: schools' in loco parentis responsibility to police bullying--after Columbine/Kip Kinkel/et al, weren't schools hyper-vigilant about that sort of thing? As bullying led the "freaks" and "geeks" to take up arms against their oppressors? Maybe the tree of noogie and wedgie free recesses needs to be refreshed once a generation by the blood of bullies. Or maybe they've put other safety measures in place that they feel safe allowing bullies to go back to bullying unchecked.

yeah, what happened to schools being worried about the kids getting picked on raiding their grandfather's gun-cabinet and shooting up
study hall?

Pretty funny. That pretty much explains why most people would not want to go hang around their old high school.

It's a little different because he isn't targeting one kid or group,he's an asshole to everybody.

My issue is we can't handle it and the kids aren't really allowed to anymore. The schools say they will, but they really can't do anything in a situation like this.

After the incident in 1st grade, I told the teacher and the principal i understand you cannot talk about another student. However I can. This child is an issue I really don't care if you get this issue straightened out or not but it better never involve my child ever again. the school will need to do everything you possibly can to prevent it. If you do not I will become your issue. We will abide by the school rules but the school better protect my child, you simply cannot allow this to happen again.

This does not seem to have worked or has simply put things off a while? Maybe with a new year/teacher do the same again.

They were in different classes last year and my son pretty much avoids him. I'm just venting and not sure if there's something else I could do. Maybe I'm just worrying too much. Not a huge deal but still crappy

I wonder if there are lawyers that specialize in this kind of stuff. Perhaps a note from a lawyer mentioning possible liability issues the school could face.

Don't schools usually swap around students from class to class the first week of classes.
Can you ask that the school assign your kid to a different class? Maybe ostensibly based on the teacher.

Spaulding, if you present the dad with a upside down pineapple, do you think that would help?

If that doesn't work, try giving one to the kid's mom.

Let me get this straight......Your son is going into 3rd grade, hasn't had an issue with this kid since 1st grade (mostly because he "laid the much bigger kid out") yet you still feel it necessary to post a thread about the kid and solicit advice on what to do about him? What's wrong with this picture?

It's the first day of school today. It just kind of occurred to me that there are a lot of entitled little fucks walking around. I blame it on the proliferation of the traveling "all star" team. Everyone with ability that is slightly above the norm suddenly gets validation that they are physically superior. They have dressers full of clothes payed for with exorbitant entry fees to detail to the world their superiority.

I often hear about the advanced intelligence of kids but it seems like full families get to revel in the kid who is modestly talented athletically.

The truth is that we, almost across the board in this country, would be better off putting all the extra time and fees we put into the physical pursuits of our children back into their education.

Your local VFW may have a secret under 12 bare knuckle boxing club you can use to teach him some skills. You can even sign up to bring the carrots and dip.

Yeah, its not supposed to be, but people are people.

It's also confusing.

Even when my daughter just tells me about little disagreements Ill tell her to say "I dont care what you think" or "That's fine, Ill play with someone else" and her response is "Ill get in trouble"

You have to be exceedingly nice to everyone to be safe. Which is a nice idea, but not very realistic

I'm not part of the group that complains about awarding mediocrity. I don't think kids take participation trophies to heart as any kind of validation. These teams are a different story. It changes the whole attitude of kids.

I cannot imagine what it is like for a high school coach in a sport like baseball these days on cut down day when 90% of the kids have had so much outside validation of their ability since the age of 8. They must accept the abuse of kids and parents after their entire view of life has been readjusted to reality.
