"Ridiculously Protracted Anecdote of Some Daily Mundanity" as well. That comic book story took way too long.

Could you call in with a question about Tommy Williams? I want to win an Ethan Shaw hat.

All I caught was that Leary has a private stash of comic books at the comic book store. They hold the really good stuff for Leary in the back room.

Comic Book Store VIP!

<click>

Best part was that someone (Baldy McCrgindy?) gave Leary a look, (Per Larry) mocking him for just trying to sound more and more Dorky. Then he backed down when Leary sound (dont look at me like that!)

Fight!

For a minute my heart stopped when I saw the Bigfan face. Then realized it was CH. What a clever chap he is. Must be from wheedling his way out of ass-kickings on the mean streets of Winthrop Harbor.

Larry's "Baby-talk" conversation style is one of the weirdest thing about him. Also his ability to make routine events in his life into a long, passion-felt story. Larry could talk for hours about making coffee in the morning. He would tell it in the same manner that the Navy Seal guys would tell their story of kill Bin Laden.

I'll never forget the one that inspired "Protracted Story of Daily Mundanity" as a Leery hallmark. It was the one about how he went to order a pizza, waited for them to bake it, paid for it, and left. This nonstop thrill ride took about five minutes. Remember that one?

Larry accepts that he should put in an IDEN? line?

Dan then refers to him as "black Terry". Hilarious.

Are you kidding? Who could possibly forget the riveting "ordering a pizza, waiting for the pizza to cook, paying for the pizza and leaving with the pizza" story?

It's crazy how he can take minor things and turn them into long, drawn out, self-important presentations.

Not being really pro-sir but isn't that skill good for radio usually?

Yes. I also think I was too subtle with my jab.

Yeah. It's good for life in general. But there's an art to storytelling/bullshitting. You have to introduce something that resembles a story map into your anecdote or else you're just sitting there talking about the time you waited for someone to make your pizza so you could go home and eat it. In high school, I once dragged out a story of ordering a hot dog that had unordered ketchup on it over like four pages of double-spaced 12-point Times New Roman. I think there were no fewer than two existential crises in there.

I understand that you can't fill 5 hours with interesting thoughts or stories. But Larry doesn't have any. Is the "Baby-talk" a good skill for radio?

Personally way past it, when I hear him on the radio I am just inclined to just turn it off.

Usually if I am listening to the Score or ESPN and something is bad, I actually dont have the premeditated thought to turn it, they people on the radio usually remind me of how bad/boring they are and then I turn it off. (Example: White Sox baseball. If I get in the car and its on, I dont just turn it off because it is the Sox, but then within 5 minutes you get "Did you ever eat a hot dog while playing? Nope? Did you? Nope! and then I turn it off)

Leary is just boring and really thinks he has some angles/viewpoints that are original and others will think are interesting. They arent.

My apologies to Krazy Ivan. I was using the analogy on Beardown.

I flipped the show on later in the day yesterday (didn't know Leery was filling in) and caught Dan getting upset that idiot sports still refer to pitchers' W/L records. "WHYYYYY? Why would they do that?????" Jesus, is Dan really that dense? He expects that coverage of the most historied sport in the country is going to start barfing out WAR and WHIP when hurriedly trying to through their highlights package...when, for years, most "general" sports recap shows just talk about W/L and/or ERA? Really?

From what I heard, Leery gave a "I know, Dan" and that was it.....isn't that pudwhack doing some sports segment on 5? Does he give out the IMPORTANT. RELEVANT. STATS.????
