Sometime around the time Miley fell out of a teddy bear vagina and Robin Thicke came out and humped her while dressed like Beetlejuice I just realized I have no clue what the hell is happening.

I think I'm officially old.

So far this show has made zero sense to me.

Yeah, but at this point, it's a lot easier to make fun of what we're seeing on the TV. I'm still waiting for something I've actually heard of to be nominated for something.

Well, Deebub wants to watch so I'm good with it. I played Oblivion for like 4 hours today so she gets some time on the toob.
But yeah, I am lost here. :?

Doesn't anyone just play guitar, drums and bass anymore?

Something doesn't have to be good to still be entertaining.

This generation would rather play Guitar Hero on X-Box.

I never understood those games. Instead of putting in hours upon hours learning how to play a fake guitar, why not learn how to play a real one?

because your dumbass friends you look up to are playing it. that is one product i would have NEVER thought would catch on. I am still in disbelief such a simple retarded game did so well.

Im not a huge Guitar Hero guy, but Ill say, I tried my hand at guitar a long time ago and it was difficult for me.

After 5 minutes on the game I could play some long good songs decently. So ya know, there's that.

I mean, why play Madden when you could go outside and play REAL football

Also, I think longing for instruments that were popular when you started liking music is definitely a sign of being old.

They said these same things about that crazy Rock n Roll music

I don't think so. Preferring rock music to pop isn't really an indicator that someone is old.

Roger, you make it sound like guitars, drums, bass, and keyboards are antiquated and outdated. I couldn't disagree more.

What's a guy like Lenny Kravitz supposed to do with his career? His last CD still sounded like rock to me. I hope I never see him trying to pretend he's going back to his roots and come out with a Country CD. A lot of that going on with different artists searching for an audience.

Eh...maybe not antiquated and outdated, but certainly not as revolutionary or "dangerous" as it used to be. "Rock" music (from light to heavy) has lost it's edge. There is very little that interests me nowadays and that's not a new thing...it's like a 15 year thing. Four or five bands and a couple of surprises here and there. Other than that, it's been mostly derivative to me.

RPB said it himself. Guitar is hard. I've been playing for 27 years and I still think I suck.
But, any kid with a computer can "make music."

There are very few things that you get from playing guitar that you can't get from guitar hero, and most of those things, such as frustration and lots of hard work aren't exactly things most of us need in our life.

If I had any desire to join a band or go sing at coffee houses I'd be off to learn it but since I'm not I'm going to play guitar hero every so often, have fun, and then move on to other things that are a better use of my time.

If I want frustration and hard work without making any progress I'll just come on here and argue with Bucky Chris again.

I just gave away my Guitar Hero Guitar & drum set. It sat around for 5 years. I got all excited when the Beatles version came out and tried it once. Never touched it again. About 300 bucks pissed away. At least my wife gave it to a little boy we know.

I don't like to brag, but I can pretty much knock "Scarborough Fair" out of the park on Coffee House Hero every frickin' time.

What makes me feel older than anything is that I had to look up the term "twerking" today which appears to be a fairly well-known term.

If it makes you feel better, I had to explain it to my wife, and I had to pretend like I wasn't completely sure if I was right to not come off as a weirdo.

Edited the autocorrect. Apparently my computer is unaware of the term as well.

I believe it is "twerking" Doc.

Someone at work mentioned Miley Cyrus was twerking off and I was taken aback.

Now I feel even older as I can't figure out how this consarnin' Auto-Correct machine functions.

I do like some of this hippy hoppy but it's not my bag and never really was. I do dig some stuff. I like Outkast. I like Timberlake, though that new album is kinda meh.
No I just simply prefer guitar music. Even the new stuff. That Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Dawes, Mumford... I still dig NEW music but it's guitar music... so RPB I disagree that not liking the hip hop electronic music is a sign of getting old.

I will say that it's my firm belief that the state of music today is a sad sad place. With very few exceptions, there's no one out today that's gonna be "rocking" in 40 years like the Stones and Aerosmith still are today. Petty still sells out 30 years later... will drake? I don't see it.

I like rap and I like some pop but most of what was on that show and what the sponsors force on the top 40 radio station is mass produced shit. I have never liked hip hop though even if its "good" I want gucci or yacht rock and nothing in between.

I can also still find decent "rock" music from mostly new artists but its a pain in the dick and you have to research it like a term paper to find something.

I have been using Iheartradio but it seems to be quite narrow minded with a lot of repeats in a short amount of time these days.
