They have dressers full of clothes payed for with exorbitant entry fees to detail to the world their superiority.

I often hear about the advanced intelligence of kids but it seems like full families get to revel in the kid who is modestly talented athletically.

The truth is that we, almost across the board in this country, would be better off putting all the extra time and fees we put into the physical pursuits of our children back into their education.

Well said.

Im half part of that generation myself.

My Tball league gave out trophies that said MVP to every kid

I'm not part of the group that complains about awarding mediocrity. I don't think kids take participation trophies to heart as any kind of validation. These teams are a different story. It changes the whole attitude of kids.

I cannot imagine what it is like for a high school coach in a sport like baseball these days on cut down day when 90% of the kids have had so much outside validation of their ability since the age of 8. They must accept the abuse of kids and parents after their entire view of life has been readjusted to reality.

I'm sorry you two were not very athletic.

Can we have a chess outing for board members?

While it might not be as noticeable in younger girls, chicks are much worse than boys when it comes to the bullying crap.

At least boys have (or at least we had) games like King of the Hill in winter and Smeer the Queer to work shit out.
Girls gang up and practically destroy their bullying victims.

Now you're going to make me do it...while I was on the state champion debate team I was also a varsity baseball player in what was a very good league. I went on to play college rugby and competed against teams like Navy, Maryland, Notre Dame, Georgetown, George Washington and George Mason. I'll whip out the balls even more to say that in grade school I was asked by two high school coaches to play football for them but went to a place that did not have a team.

Well, that ought to shut Seacrest up once and for all. Yep, that'll be the last we hear on this subject.

Did you decide to play rugby after you were cut from the ultra competitive Jai alai college team?

This is true...which is why girls pretty much have to be involved in sports (in my opinion). Coaches (at least at Catholic H.S.) will make the girls "run off" their grievances at practice. My sister has a few good stories.

Is this kid THE bad apple? If so, be glad there is only one of them. I really don't think your son has much to worry about. He's made it clear that he's not going to take any crap from this kid. At that age, it makes a huge difference. I can speak from experience at the same age. Your son isn't afraid of him, the bully knows that....which defeats the purpose of bullying.

I notice this with my two girls as well. They haven't been bullies that I know of but they have dealt with some incredible ones. Worse is when the moms get in on it. Sheesh.

I'm sorry you had to settle for Ignatius when you couldn't get into Fenwick to play football. Why didn't you just say this years ago here rather than try and act like your school was better?

Not really relevant to this, but I hate that schools WANT to have all sorts of authority over your kid - drug tests, body cavity searches, confiscation of property, etc. but they want to have no responsibility when shit like this happens. Kick the fucking kid out of school. Make pops pay for a special school for the little fuckhead. That'd stop it quick.

Not very easy to kick a kid out of public school. Especially if they have an IEP. The bad kids have rights too.
