I can also still find decent "rock" music from mostly new artists but its a pain in the dick and you have to research it like a term paper to find something.

godsmack's oracle is just about the best rock album there is right now. they finally hit their prime, and know better then to not do anything but pure unadulterated rock. love that album.

I knew rock was dead when Joe Orr Road said he liked "Call Me Maybe".

Also, I think longing for instruments that were popular when you started liking music is definitely a sign of being old.

I don't think so. Preferring rock music to pop isn't really an indicator that someone is old.

I dont think its that simple. I mean obviously a ton of pop includes those instruments

And I dont mean to suggest the instruments are outdated. But when you hear something and think "that's not music (the way I know it)" I think that's kind of an oldish thing.

Other than that, it's been mostly derivative to me.

To me "Rock n Roll" the idea is not just rock music. Its whatever kids are digging and adults dont like

Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, JT, and One Direction are not rock and roll.

That is not at all who I meant.

Although I might argue Katy Perry is tangentially related.

I mean in the late 80's/early 90's rock n roll was hip hop. Public Enemy and Run DMC were rock n roll

Daft Punk maybe now.

I get your point, and you very well could be right, but it just doesn't add up in my head.

RnR was Def Leppard, Skid Row^, GnR, Nirvana, VH, Billy Idol, Living Color* ... that's what I split-second think of as RnR at that point. It certainly was not the dominant genre, but the dominant genre does not automatically get lumped into RnR.

(^ - I didn't say it was all "good" music)

(* - because I don't want to give some jagoff the ability to say "yeah, 'cause dere all white")

I would agree with that. One Direction isn't really on my radar at all. They're a Tiger Beat band. But I felt the same way about the Bay City Rollers when my sister was playing their records and I was listening to Yes, and right now I'd say "Saturday Night" was better than anything Yes ever did.

Robin Thicke's wife, Paula Patton, may have been cool with Miley Cyrus grinding on her husband.

Thicke's mother, however, was not as impressed.

"I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son," said his mother, Gloria Loring. "The problem is now I can never unsee it."

"Him? Loved it. I love that suit, the black and white suit," Loring said, praising her son's outfit. "I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don't understand."

"I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers," Loring said. "And I think it was not beneficial."

I loved playing Rockband. We would have parties in the garage complete with a Mic stand and the xbox smoke and light machine that played along to the music beats. We were pretty hardcore about it for a few years.

Her entire family is weird as hell. Take for instance her brother.

that's what I found hilarious too about that interview. So she prefers the people that grind on her son to be truly naked. Got it.

I only played drums on rockband. It was too weird to play the guitar having played a real one. I enjoyed the drums so much that I got a real set and no longer really play rockband. That is all.

I was thinking "Rough Grooved Surface" you know complete with the orange construction sign logo but that's good too.
