Last few weddings I have been at they have put bottles of wine out on the tables so if the speeches/slideshows run long and you have depleted your back up drinks you can strart pounding wine to keep the alcoholism at bay.

I like when you grab 2 extra drinks for dinner and then they pour you wine and champagne.

4 drinks...nice

Why would that be cool? Why would you want to see penis? If he is going to do something like that, it best be a picture of tits.

Is there an implication in there that I am invited?

Thanks Frank. You will get to see the difference between the north side Poles who emigrated from cities and the south side gorala

So I ended up doing this myself with windows movie maker, with somewhat mixed results. I can't figure out to resize a picture, but moving along...

Does anybody have a lead on a projector I might be able to rent/borrow? I can either play this show on a laptop (which we have) or I can burn to a DVD and play it that way. The hall has the screen and connections, I just need the projector and the hookups.

Thanks for the real responses and at least try to make the bullshit ones somewhat clever.

Closing the bar doesn't fly with the crowd of Irishmen from my home region.

For the Dr. Ken nuptials, I had to let these Chicagoans running this deal understand that that bar doesn't close or there will be rioting.

makes sense i guess, but it seems like closing it is the default option
i would think that the hall would want you to spend more money so leaving it open would be the default

Most of the time thats the package that the halls offer. Like 5 hour banquet, with 4 hour open bar. You can pay extra to have it open, but its not just a flat fee. Its usually like $4 or $5 per person. That adds up to a lot of money for just a handful of drinks over that 60-90 minute stretch. So yeah having it closed for dinner is usually the default.

My friends are professional drinkers. They know to stock up with 2 or 3 on the table to carry them thru dinner. We get wine with dinner too so they will have that.

At a Polish wedding they are probably going to have a homemade vodka toast instead of a champagne toast. And instead of a cake cutting, it will be vodka shots.

Aside from the financial reason, I think it's also to keep people out of the bar during dinner as it messes up the service if people are running in and out all the time. Gives people time to settle in for nice dinner.

I may in the minority here, but I'm not a devotee of the whole photo resizing business. I find it far more engaging to intersperse the vacation panorama shots with, say, drivers license photos. Keeps people involved, what with all the squinting and backing away.

And where the hell is binny's clerk? Did he call in sick today?

A Hooter's wedding would certainly be classy.

And devoid of good tasting food.

The bar at my wedding was open during dinner, and we got to keep all the liquor that wasn't finished.

Vodka bottles at the table instead of wine...dinner doesn't start until 9 even if the invitation calls for 6...there is a meat dinner, a break for booze, then a fish dinner, another break for booze and finally a round of pork for dinner. At 2 am when you want to get your fuck on people will be bitching about you trying to leave the wedding.

Those are the advantages of having a wedding at the VFW.

This sounds highly First Generation. Didn't you say your family came over on the equivalent of the Polish Mayflower (presumably after they got the below deck screen door issue resolved?)

Any respectable Polish wedding would have a bottle of Vodka on each table.
