$765 mill? Roger Goodell probably pulled it out of the ashtray in his car.

How much goes to the lawyers?

Players will get on average about $150k.

I guess football isn't doomed after all.

Cost of doing business and that won't help with many of the medical issues.

Agree with Nas. If Rick's numbers are right, $150,000 can't come close to the medical bills they will have over the long term. On the positive, at least they are getting some kind of money.

No admission of liability. Wow. The NFL lawyers continue to dominate.

I don't need any type of stats to know that. It's all about their guts, grind, grime, guile and probably momentum.

NFL actually has 20 YEARS to pay out $765M concussion lawsuit settlement. Half to be paid in first 3 years, rest to be paid over next 17!

So basically the guys who are still alive right now will be dead before they see all the money.

The players lawyers had to take money under the table. This wasn't a weak case.

The players may be mad today about the poor settlement but it will all be forgotten by tomorrow.

NFL concussion plaintiff lawyer says he was OK with 20-year payout plan because it allowed him to get a higher award.

Sadly, it's hard to blame the players when there are guys like this out there. I mean technically they can opt out of the settlement and sue on their own, but good luck with that.
Quote:
Kevin Turner, 44, a former fullback for the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots who has had A.L.S. for four years, said he was happy with the settlement because it will get money to needy players like himself and avoid years of potential litigation.

“I thought five years would be great and maybe I could live to see that,” said Turner, who spends about $8,500 a month on medicine and doctor visits. “There will always be people who said there should have been more, but they are probably not the ones with A.L.S. and at home.”

This will be just enough for a player to cover 1 1/2 years of medical costs before filing bankruptcy.

He should have gotten it paid out over a thousand years. I'll bet he could have gotten 800 million.

they probably don't know how to count anymore anyway, so it doesn't matter. as long as there's someone there to change their diaper, refill their cheerios, and make sure the hoveround is well oiled, there shouldn't be anymore of this "concussion settlement" chatter.

Do you think the NFL did what the players were suing them for or was this just a move of injured players looking for a money grab?
