Excellent choke job out there today by the Cubs. Shark is turning into quite the Edwin Jackson wannabe.

I would deal him before his big payday. He will never be an ace.

Deal him for what? Teams are not going to give up top pitching for a guy that you don't believe is going to be an ace. You deal him and your weaker at SP. He isn't going to get ACE money unless he pitches like one, so why deal him? If he gets better he is worth the risk, if not then you sign him to 3-5 SP money. WIN WIN.

He s gonna want ace $$$. He thinks he is better than he really is. You can trade him there are plenty of teams that would take the gamble and I bet you could get a nice return on him. There is a reason they have not signed him long term already and that is because they know what he is. An OK middle of the rotation starter, nothing more.

Agree. He's going to want ace money for number 3 stuff. Let someone else overpay for him. No thanks .

It is a smart move to make at this point. Glad you agree. Anyone who cannot see what he is and wants is either a casual fan or stupid. I do not think Theo and Jed are even thinking about giving him big $$$.

The Cubs paid $12M/yr for a #5. So what does that mean for Shark?

I thought Jackson got 14 million a year? In any case, it was a bad deal and I said I didn't want that steaming sack of monkey spunk before they signed him. Sammy has some great stuff, but he's so inconsistent and in the end, he's not that young anymore. He's had enough time to show what he can do and he's shown that he's a guy that is not going to win enough to be a top of the rotation guy. I would like to see him go to arbitration, just so he can hear all the reasons why he's not considered a top flight pitcher and have the arbitrator rule in favor of the Cubs. Maybe it would be an eye opener for him.
