I remember when Grandfather lived next to this whack job who had a handicapped parking sign in front of her house. It was never used because that was the drop off point for her baby sitting service. She and her husband used to to put cones out on both sides of the handicapped space for their cars. Eventually people started stealing the cones but when that did not stop them, someone slashed all the tires on both of their vehicles. After that the cones went away.

Moral law illustrated by triple-parked car with slashed tires
20 hrs ago

Philosopher Immanuel Kant taught us that the only way to be morally correct is to act according to principles that, if adopted by everyone, would not constrict your ability to live by that rule. Ergo, if EVERYONE were to take up three parking spaces to protect their midrange vehicles, the world and the Wal-Mart parking lots therein would descend into chaos, and parking would be impossible. Therefore, it is morally incorrect to do so. What the philosopher who came across this car has taught us is that when you violate this social contract, you open the door for people to act as selfishly as you have, by, say, slashing your tires. Take this tow truck ride as a lesson in moral rationality.

Awesome. We need more self-policing like this.

Well, ideally a beat officer would see this, check it out, and write a ticket. But, everyone knows that won't happen. I'm a big broken-windows-theory proponent, but our culture these days runs exactly counter to that. So, a little vigilante justice now and then makes me smile.

I see to remember the candyman talking about roping off "his" parking spot on the street or coning it off or something.

He would have parked much closer to the entrance than he did here.

If you are shopping at Wal-Mart you really shouldn't be concerned about dents in your car. That is like going to a crack house and being concerned someone may steal your iPhone 3gs.
