CHICAGO — Ten people, including a 13-year-old boy, have now been arrested in last week's looting of 300 iPads from a South Side elementary school, and police are still seeking more people.

The band of suspected iPad thieves arrested so far also includes two 15-year-old girls, a 15-year-old boy, three 16-year-old boys and a 25-year-old man named Eugene McQueen of the 2900 block of South Federal, police said.

This is interesting in as far as it brings up the debate should these "kids" now be charged with crimes that will ruin there future. How serious should this be taken, youthful tomfoolery ? crime of opportunity with no real malicious intent? throw the book at them?

Ah, I wouldn't go so far as to say there's no 'malicious intent' ..... stealing for the fuck of it isn't any more noble than stealing ..... well, it's generally always for the fuck of it - fractions of a percent are the proverbial stealing food because they need it .... stealing is stealing .... don't have to electrocute them, but you don't just make it no big deal either.
