WTF is this movie about? All I get is that the Bullock character is from Lake Zurich,Illinois. Clooney is in it,which means it might really suck.

The Lake Zurich police will get right on it.

Sandra] Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone — tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.
The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth... and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.
But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
Gravity is practically a one-man show, with Cuarón handling writing (with his son, Jonas), directing, producing, and editing duties. It has been reported that the movie contains a 20-minute single shot opening scene and that the majority of the $80 million budget will go toward CGI and post-production 3-D conversion, which is currently in progress.

I think a Moon landing conspiracy movie would be more interesting.

That would be. It really is hard to believe that happened in 1969. They already made a fake moon landing movie a long time ago though.

Some movie reviewer types on Adam Carolla's podcast said the script is a rip-off of an indie hit from a decade ago called "Open Water", only instead of an ocean and sharks, the characters are "in space" but without sharks. Tho Sharknado gives one hope that maybe Sharks in Space can't be too far off.

How do you jump the shark if there is no gravity?

Just saw this in IMAX 3-D today, and I highly recommend this be the way you see it. Not so much for the 3-D because there isn't too much 3-D that's all that impressive...but just to be surrounded by this movie makes it quite an experience.

This is directed by Alfonso Cuaron, who also did "Children of Men", another film I really liked. This is an effective film, sometimes a thriller and sometimes a ponderous film. What it really is about, though, is rebirth. There is some pretentious symbolism in it, almost all visual...but there is some dialog subtext that also is a device of the theme of sort of resurrecting yourself.

the character of ryan (bullock) basically goes through a transformation through experiencing explosions in space and some of the sequences are downright breathtaking.

but don't think this beats you over the head ken russell style. it's not that overt...you have to pay attention to all the details to really get all that. besides that, it's a very efficient 90 minute movie that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. it's very well acted, and aside from the cliche of the stock 3rd character (who is always of foreign descent for some reason and is always a family man), who you also know will die immediately...there are some nice surprises in this film and its ending is satisfying. is it best picture material? Probably not...but bullock will most likely get a best actress award.

it's a very solid film.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Actually it is Kowalski. jimmypasta is too dumb to spell it right. The irony is that jimmy isn't even Polish.

Wow,where did this cheap shot come from? What Good Dolphin might have noticed that you didn't was I grabbed the above from a website review. It's not from me and even if it was,who cares?

Come on, jimmy! I know you've got a sense of humor and you're not going to get upset about that.

The only reason I know the character's name is because I've got a brother-in-law with the same name. Except that goof is a Catholic priest rather than an astronaut.

Here's a question for the Polish guys, specifically those with "ski" names. I've met dolphin several times but I don't know his last name. Anyway, I suppose it's probably better than 50/50 that he's a "ski". My question is, if you have sisters, do they use "ska"? My wife is a "ski" and it always slightly bothered me that she (and her mom and sisters) used the masculine form. But I do understand that we are in America and that's usually the way it's done over here.
