Erik Johnson will make his major league debut on Wednesday against the Yankees.

Didn't the Sox start Neal Cotts in his major league debut at Yankee Stadium and he got his ears pinned back and never recovered as a starting pitcher. This isn't the same Yankee team but it's still an intimidating place to pitch. Hopefully Johnson can get thru this and build a long successful career.

That was a contending team in the middle of a pennant race. This is a whole lot different. All the games are the same now.

Did Soriano just slide head first into first base?? During his eternity on the northside did he ever do that even once??

These Yankees aren't going to catch several teams ahead of them for the AL Wildcard. They're also not catching Boston for the AL East either.

But they are going to sweep the White Sox in this series.

It won't matter. The Yankees are watching the MLB Playoffs at home next month. Book it.

And Alexei finally had an off day, thanks to "Larry" Leury Garcia. So SHARK, you can stop referring to him as Cal Ripken.

The bullpen more than made up for him last night. I have no idea why Donnie Veal is on the MLB roster. I don't care if he's lefty he is brutal.

He has a near top of the league BAA lefties. The problem is they choose to let him face righties, which gets back to Ventura...and there was no reason for Sale to pitch to another batter after putting a man on after 8.1 innings and 110 pitches.

Yeah, but he walks way too many guys.

.269 cannot be near the top of the league. No way.

He has a higher BAA against lefties than righties, and lefties have a higher OBP against him than righties. He also has 14 walks in 21+ innings. His WHIP is 1.64. All of that is particularly brutal for a setup guy.

This is pretty cool that two college teammates (Johnson and Semien) are making their major league debut in the same game.

Johnson's having a rough go. He's not getting strike one and is falling behind every hitter. The defense could have helped him a little but he's simply not throwing enough strikes. Yankee Stadium is an intimidating place to pitch.

Johnson turned that into a decent debut. He nibbled too much and has to be more aggressive on strike one but he showed some pretty good stuff. I'm looking forward to his next couple starts.

Daniel Webb makes his major league debut tonight too. BigFan's happy.

I can't believe Robin didn't play Semien tonight especially after the game he had last night. This Kid's going to be playing either SS or 3B next year so every meaningless game they don't play him is a wasted opportunity. Butt Nugget II or Gillaspie can take a seat for the next month so he can get some valuable playing time.

Can't sit Gillaspie, he's too cheap. Can't sit Ramirez, he's too expensive.

The Sox have scored 1 run on 10 hits (all singles) in 2 games against Baltimore. This offense is fucking pathetic.

Nelson Cruz is a free agent. Any interest there?

Maybe but I'd rather see them make a run at the Cuban 1st baseman Jose Dariel Abreu. Then they can sign Granderson to play right and play Garcia in center.

I predict we are stuck with Konerko another year. He won't retire and JR will insist on bringing him back.

Granderson is a horrible idea. You're going right back where you came from with an overpriced guy on the corner. He's a player in decline. I don't know if Garcia can play center long term or not, but that's the guy you have to build around. Their main free agent target should be Brian McCann. That solves two problems- the catching and a left-handed stick with enough power. Then you can try to make some more moves to get younger. Get what you can for Ramirez. Try to dump Dunn, though you probably can't. And if "Losing Pitcher" John Danks ever puts together a string good enough so that there is any demand at all for him, send him out the fucking door.

Whatever. DeAza is having a lousy year. He also makes about $12 million less than Danks, which means a hell of a lot. I have no problem with replacing him but you shouldn't just do it for the sake of doing it. He's far from a huge problem for this team.
