McCann figures to be in demand. A left-handed catcher with good power. And he's only about 30, an age when many catchers actually hit their prime. This is the kind of guy, considering the position the Sox are in, that it wouldn't be bad to "overpay" to get.

He'll be on the wrong side of 30 and his games palyed have decreased the last three seasons due to multiple injuries. Pass.

Like I said, catchers often hit their prime after thirty and can generally play longer than guys in the outfield. But you want to sign 33 year old outfielders who rely on their legs for a good part of their game. Thank God you aren't the GM.

Just because you said it doesn't make it accurate. In fact it probably makes it wrong. A 30 yr old catcher with a history of shoulder and knee injuries. Have fun with that Mr GM.

Right. It's accurate because it's accurate. The fact that I said it has no bearing on its accuracy. We'll see whether McCann or Granderson is more productive over the next five seasons.

You could add both those guys and the offense would still be bad.

Couple thoughts.

1. Beckham has 1??! walk against LH this year? that is hard to do.

2. Brian Roberts still exists?

The Sox finally broke the losing streak and Rienzo threw a pretty good game. Yippers.

Yep, and the Cubs are still trying to trade for him.

The Sox lead the world in 30 pitch first innings. I know they have some young pitchers out there but for fuck sake enough of this nibbling bullshit. Attack the fucking hitters.

The defense didn't help but everything they hit, they hit hard.

That HR Prince hit left the yard in about 2 seconds. And he almost killed the 2B umpire on a shot up the middle.

and he struck Miggy out but didn't get the call. Coop has to figure out a way to help these guys get thru the first ining. Johnson, Santiago and Rienzo all struggle in the first then settle down as the game goes along but they threw so many damn pitches in the first they can't go more than 5 innings.

Coop will probably take it out on "Mully & Hanley" or Rongey tomorrow before the White Sox & Indians start a 4 game series. That's how he'll answer that.

Shoot the boys a text tomorrow morning, SHARKAROO. Ask Coop why his pitchers struggle so much to get out of the first ining. Say you're Peoria Matt.

Just a fantastic recovery by Quintana. If he would have been able to get out of the first with fewer pitches he'd still be out there hoping for his offense to score him a run. Still it was another outstanding outing.

A nice outing by Johnson. Of course he struggled in the 1st but he righted the ship and threw a pretty good game. It helps to have a 9 run lead and facing a lineup with only a few major league hitters in it but lets not dwell on that stuff. It's the first of hopefully many wins.

Viciedo getting hot the 2nd half of the season probably means they have to give him another shot next season. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I think Viciedo may be your first baseman, assuming that it's probably easier to find a fringe OF or two.

He could be but I'm hoping they sign the Cuban defector Jose Dariel Abreu to play 1st base. Then they can keep Viciedo in left, Garcia in center and sign a right fielder who will hopefully be Curtis Granderson. Keep Danks around as the 4th outfielder and Luery Garcia as the utility man.
