I'm shocked this guy can afford this place. Is that Duke assistant coach money??

New Northwestern University head basketball coach Chris Collins has put down some roots here, paying $2.55 million for a newly built, seven-bedroom house in Winnetka.

A Northbrook native who is the son of former Chicago Bulls head coach Doug Collins, Chris Collins, 39, starred at Duke University and later was an assistant at Seton Hall and Duke before joining Northwestern in March.

Collins’ three-story Winnetka house had been listed for $2.78 million. Features include 5-1/2 baths, coffered ceilings, millwork, a bar with a wine cellar, and a lower level with a rec room, media room, bar and wine cellar.

Collins closed on the house Aug. 8, but it didn’t go into public records until Aug. 27.

Paul Gorney of Prudential Rubloff represented Collins, while Halina Krupa of Coldwell Banker represented the builder.

Besides, it's Winnetka.

I think I've got a couple butlers who live there.

Duke assistant is more of a side job in terms of salary. I think Krzyzewski sets them up with a consultancy fee from Nike, they run several basketball camps for him and I wouldn't be shocked if he had a friend of the program job. Then factor in that it costs next to nothing to live in Durham and that he probably doesn't pay for a meal or drink in that town and you can save some coin over 16 years.

Anyway, 20% down on that is 500K which I'm sure he had from the new contract, the sale of his home and his savings. I wouldn't be surprised if his contract included a very low interest loan on the home.

I am sure CC was making close to $500K a year at duke when everything was accounted for. Endorsements, salary, camps, etc.

Coach K's base is $7 Mill, no doubt Collins was a base of no less than 3ooK

Meet Chris. 39. Chris thought it would be a good idea to buy a big fuckin' house on the North Shore before his basketball team played a single game. Then, when he missed the Big Dance like Chicago's Shitty Big Ten Team always fuckin' does and got a show-cause for doing some illiterate cornstalk dumbfuck's math homework, suddenly, Chris couldn't pay his goddamn mortgage on fuckin' Pick-n-Roll Manor here. Looks like he went from draining threes to draining his bank account. THAT'S BECAUSE HE DIDN'T CALL DAVID. David would have told him to hold the fuck up and maybe settle for Lake Bluff or the good part of Glenview in case the whole college-coach thing goes tits-up like it does for half these fuckin' crooks. And no one knows fuckin' crooks like David! Wanna get in over your head on your real estate while going down with a lost cause of a college program? Call Prudential. Wanna play things safe and get out when the getting's good like all college coaches should? Call David Hochberg at Townstone Financial.

I wonder how long THAT house was on the market. I guess Collins never heard "When you buy,you sell". Godd luck unloading it after 3 seasons of losing big.
