I'm drunk at the airport, so that could explain my hostility.

I don't remember, but this flight attendant wants it. I can tell.

I was at a wedding Saturday in CA where the reception ran from 3:00 PM to midnight.

I thought that was a lot of drinking.

This same paragraph could accurately describe Boldin since his rookie year. He's a damn good receiver, and one who's skills don't lend themselves to deterioration easily. He's the new Derrick Mason. He is disposable, but on the other hand he has always consistently provided positive value for whatever team he's been on, so desposing of him might be a poor decision. It hasn't really worked out well for AZ.

Don't really disagree about Boldin here. He's good but he's not going to carry a team. SF would be just as good with a different WR. I disagree on AZ. That team sucked because they missed on Leinart and went into early 2000s Bears mode with a slew of atrocious QBs ever since Warner retired. That team is responsible for ruining 2-3 years of Fitzgeralds prime. But the issue there is bad QBs, and not jettisoning Boldin.

I agree his departure isn't a significant factor in their decline. I still don't think it was smart to let him go and I think the Ravens end up regretting it.

I think there's less than 5 WRs in the league who can "carry" a team for an entire season, and you could make a convincing argument that there are actually zero. However, Boldin carried Baltimore as much as one receiver can during last postseason. You'll be hard pressed to find a better postseason performance by a WR.

I agree on "carrying" being a problematic word. Only used it because I think someone else said Boldin did that to Flacco for the entire season last year, which is not accurate. Also agree on his incredible performance during the playoffs.

I guess our only disagreement is on how interchangeable Boldin is. I don't think SF would be just as good with another WR, unless it was another pro bowl caliber WR, which Boldin still is.

If you strictly say Boldin is a #2 and we need to replace him, sure, there are other choices. But when you say I need a #2 who has Boldin's skill set, knows his role but can still take over a game here and there...I don't see many other options.

I think this initially started on Boldins worth to SF. My thing is SFs excellence is enhanced by Boldin but not dependent on him. Even if they didn't have him and just waited for Crabtree they'd be fine IMO.

They'd probably be fine but they'd also probably be 1 game worse in the standings already.
