With Rose back, are they better than the Heat, Pacers and Knicks? I just can't see Rose making that much of an impact, but who knows. He seems to think Noah is an elite player.

i think even if the bulls have a historic run, lebron will still be holding the trophy at the end of the year. we just need to trade for someone like lebron and well be fine.

NBA is stupid. 90% of the teams have no chance and all the fans know it.

Yeah, when a team only has twelve players on the roster, and five of them are on the playing field at a time, and your best ones will generally play around five minutes for every six, you have a sport that allows for singular dominance. You also have a league that has no business having more than sixteen teams.

Bulls almost had enough last season without Rose and with the injuries. They have enough this season.

Early this week Bernsie stated that he believes the Bears could win the Super Bowl this year. When Boers questioned that, Dan essentially said that they may not be favorites but that they are a good team who could put it together at the right time. Yet if a Bulls fan called in with the same opinion he would be excoriated. :?

Basketball and football are completely different. NBA teams don't tend to "put it together at the right time" when it comes to the playoffs, especially when you're looking at a seven-game series where usually the better team wins. There's far less parity in the NBA than any other sport. Football is the very epitome of a "lucky bounce" sport. The one and done playoff system helps foster the randomness of the NFL as well.

My point is, that Bulls fan would deserve to be excoriated.

I won't be as negative as I was last year, simply because of how beatable Miami looked in the playoffs combined with how far the Bulls went with so few weapons. If the Bulls can come close to 2011 in terms of chemistry, they can threaten Miami.

Last year's Miami team would not have beaten the 2011 Bulls.

Wade or Allen aren't the same players either. I believe Thibs is an even better coach now.

no, they would have KILLED them. last years miamis team faced tougher competition.

this years miami team might be more beatable, just given the fact that its nearly exactly the same roster and they have to repeat... but lebron is right on track with jordan as far as age and rings, so look for that guy to dominate this year. and next. and the next. honestly, as much as we all laughed at 8 rings, its not out of his grasp yet.

best regular season record two years ago...they have enough...and the Heat was better in 2011-12

There seems to be some incorrect belief out there that this team with Rose was just grinders

I believe in Thibs. I don't believe I've ever seen a coach that gets more out of his players. I think he's going to be even better after the experience he's gained.

That's what I think to some degree. Not a single guy on the roster outside of rose can create his own shot. The only guy who could was added to backup the original backup PG (Hinrich) because Rose was injured. Then this backup to the backup ends up becoming the Bulls primary creator in the fourth quarter because the highly paid guys are incapable of generating their own offense. That's pathetic. Oh, and the Bulls decline to re-sign the guy and instead add more screen dependent players to the roster so they can stand around and watch rose go 1 on 5 in the fourth since he's the only guy-again-who can generate offense.

That's just a silly thought Ike. Sorry, but it is. I could see you saying that if he'd never lost a Finals or playoff series. His team lost in the Finals just three seasons ago. His team is beatable. They're not unstoppable.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/tnt-steve-kerr-thinks-heat-won-t-three-191834631--nba.html
While there aren't any lead-pipe locks in the NBA, you'd be hard-pressed to find too many folks who'd look askance at picking the Heat to go back-to-back-to-back.

Count Steve Kerr among the side-eye squadron, though. The former 15-year professional sharpshooter and Phoenix Suns general manager, and current TNT basketball analyst, has gone on the record to predict that the Heat will not only fail to three-peat, but will lose their Eastern crown, too, according to Ben Boltch of the Los Angeles Times:

Nobody has won back-to-back-to-back titles since the Lakers in 2000-02 and nobody has been to four consecutive NBA Finals since the Boston Celtics in 1984-87.
"There's a reason these teams don't do it," TNT analyst Steve Kerr said. "Emotionally, it's just exhausting to keep doing it year after year, particularly when you have to deal with everything Miami has to deal with on a daily basis, just the constant critiquing and scrutiny on the team, and then you factor in the injuries with Wade and Bosh and their health. I don't think Miami will get out of the East this year."
Kerr is picking the Bulls to unseat the Heat.

...Says the dope who broke up the mid-2000s Suns for an overweight, washed-up Shaquille O'neal.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Bulls' chances, but I think Beasley's addition as a supplementary scorer is added incentive for Wade to rest more often throughout the season. If Spoelstra takes a Popovich-ian approach to managing minutes, they'll be ready to go by playoff time.
