I watched this and could not believe how unfunny this guy is. We once shared a stage some 30-odd years ago. He moved on and became rich doing comedy and I ended up on here. You can actually hear his audience moan during the "getting shived" sketch.

It's actually worse than it was 19 years ago. Chalked full of veiled racist jokes pandering to the idiots of the world. Is the show intentionally groan inducing or just awful? I couldn't figure it out.

Wait...a young jimmy took a shot as a comedian?

Arsenio doesn't suck. He has his funny moments. He does suck as a talk show host.

Is he still on the downlow or has he come out?

farrakhan?!?!

there's a great bit of nostalgia watching the 3rd bass appearance on arsenio where they talked shit about vanilla ice the whole time. in retrospect, it makes that vh1 "white rapper show" all the more farcical.

It was mostly Letterman leaving NBC that did him in. The CBS affiliates in most major markets had to choose between carrying Arsenio and Letterman since both shows aired at the same time. The result was most of those affiliates dropping Arsenio (a syndicated Paramount show) in order to air Letterman (a CBS show). Letterman wasn't gonna lose that battle.

The Farrakhan thing was just simply Arsenio giving CBS the middle finger on the way out.

There's not really that much to it. Arsenio wanted to have Farrakhan on. Paramount said no. Arsenio had him on anyway. Not only that, but he gave Farrakhan the entire 60 minutes instead of booking any other guests that night. He was canceled two months later.

Reminiscing about the KANER mult is like reminiscing about colon cancer

Yeah, admittedly I did a poor job with that one. But the mult going after you was only meant to be playful ribbing and nothing more.

Yeah I know I just relish the opportunity to lace em up and go after the KANER any chance I get

That actually makes me a little happy deep down inside ... happy that he tried it, not that it didn't work out (thought it best to clarify that).

I'm guessing that I shouldn't lament just seeing the ol' red "X" instead of the post.

The ol red "X" is a pretty good representation of a butthole in its own right

That shows you how different the late night landscape was back then. Jon Stewart could have on the Ayatollah & it would be a hit. Forget Stewart, if Leno had him it'd be a ratings bonanza.

I saw some of Monday's show. Arsenio did this prop bit on a "time capsule". He made some joke to the effect, "after 19 years I come back as Carrot Top". @ least he knew it was bad. I hope he drops Leno as his head writer.

Arsenio had that interview with Tupac that was pretty good.
Other than that whatever.
